Ok baseball gurus...

what's opinion of Morgan's approach at the plate or rather his positioning in the box? Even for a lefty it looks like he's tight on the plate. If you're a pitcher, would you stay pitching on the inside?

he is standing where he feels the most comfortable...that's why there are so many different stances in baseball

i think you leave a guy hitting .350 for his career here alone. stance really doesnt matter, its where you end up that does. look at pics of Julio Franco...definitely wasn't a by the books approach, but lifetime .300 hitter over like 20 years in mlb

best place to pitch Morgan would be low and inside under his hands. Anywhere else he can make contact.

He smoked 3 balls last night as about hard as you can hit a ball, unfortunately right at someone. He’s hitting the ball very well. Look for him to have a big weekend coming up.

A guy with as fast as Morgan’s handle is, can stand anywhere in the box. Crowding the plate covers the outer half and he still has the speed to turn on inside pitches.
To answer your question, there’s no “dead” spot to pitch a guy with such a high career batting average.

He's fine. It's hard to consistently pitch anyone in, especially one that's on the plate, while hitting the spot and not hitting them - small room for error.

The few times Morgan gets beat it is usually in with a fastball in. Like DRock said, it is hard to consistently go inside as a college pitcher. If a pitcher can do that to Morgan then you tip the cap. Morgan is a middle-away type of hitter and can turn on a middle pitch occasionally like he did in Florida. With that approach, even with hands as quick as his, he will still get beat inside sometimes. That is ok considering the type of hitter he is.
Thing is if pitchers start going in on Morgan more often, he is absolutely capable of making an adjustment and turning on the fastballs inside. He gets beat with them inside because of his approach of looking middle-away.

Short bat and quick hands pretty much negate how close he stands. He covers both sides of the plate fine.

I love Morgan’s approach except for this turn around he does after every pitch. I don’t know if he just started this habit or I’m just noticing it but it irks me lol. Other than that keep it up kid

Bunch of great feedback. And no, i wasn't insinuating something was wrong with how he bats or where he stands... just baseball conversation without crapping on the team or coaches.
I think JJ will end up being better than PM and win more CWS Championships.
