Wasn’t that his saying after the win against Ole Miss?
Brian Kelly hasn’t lost a game in November since 2017.

Brian Kelly-Coached Teams Have Won 16 Straight November Games
LSU coach Brian Kelly brings a streak of 16 consecutive November wins into the Alabama game on Saturday. A Kelly coached team hasn’t lost a game during the month of November since the 2017 when Notre Dame dropped a 38-20 decision at No. 20 Stanford on November 25. Since then, Kelly coached teams have reeled off 16 consecutive wins, going 4-0 in 2018, 5-0 in 2019, 3-0 in 2020 and 4-0 in 2021.
As a Division I head coach, Kelly has a 51-19 record in games played in November.

I sure hope that streak stays alive but holy smokes it's a tall order with Bama.

Of course his first November game to test the streak is Saban and Bama. Gonna be a big challenge this Saturday. Kelly has nothing left he needs to prove but needless to say this win would be massive.

Even if we lost to Bama and finish the year 10-3 (6-2 SEC), that's massive. 6-2 SEC is a really good year, any year. It means you're beating a lot of rivals

I love Kelly and what he's doing for the Tigers and the direction he has the team going.
That said, I thought the "October is for Pretenders ..." thing was kind of strange. The team has been playing its heart out in October. His statement kind of downplays that.

I don’t think anyone on the team interprets it that way.
I took 2 things from it:
#1 - “Ole Miss isn’t a contender”
#2 - “good job of putting this team in a position to contend for the SEC West in November. Now it’s time to step up.”

Statement is likely to bite BK in the arse this weekend

BK stated the truth, not sure how that bites him. He’s not claiming LSU is all that yet. He’s not crowing over LSU’s ranking. The baw is all business.

He was repeating a line that has been used before to basically say that we have put ourselves in position but now we find out if we can step up and contend this year or not. I am sure he is telling the team the same thing and challenging them to show they are ready. I admire the fact that, when guys like Riley are running from Oklahoma because they joined a real conference, he left to join that real conference. He ain’t skeerd!
