The ranters really appear to be down on Coach O... Personally, I like him and the hire for several reasons.

To those who bash Coach O, I was wondering, right now would you rather (1) have Les Miles as head coach with Canada and Aranda (Coach O and Cam not on staff), or as it is (2) Coach O running the show with Canada and Aranda et al?

Just these two options, not "Option 3 a big name coach, etc..."

Pray tell, I will hang up now and listen.

We fired Miles and replaced him with his D-line coach. Just let that sink in...LSU...in the SEC did that...

The answer is neither whether your dumbass hypothetical allows for it or not.

Clemson fired their coach and hired his WR coach. Clemson in the ACC did that. O may or may not fail but the fact that he was Les's d line coach does not have anything to do with that.

I really just wish we would let the man coach a game before we already chalk it up as a failure. The same people saying O will fail before he coaches a game are probably the same ones that say we should see Canada coach a game before we say he is the savior at OC.

Is there a 3rd option that's not a coach who has perrenially under achieved or a Dline coach that has a loosing record in the SEC?

Dietzel resigned and was replaced by a Defensive Assistant with little experience and he coached for 18 years!!

People steadily say coach O is just a D Line coach but I'm sure he knows about each position on defense and can coaxh it. Let's not think he only focused on D line his entire career.

I don't see much in terms of similarities quite honestly....both position coaches, sure...that's about it.

This thread was about the coaching changes not the season. I'll answer the OPs question since it had nothing to do with the success of Coach O in the short or long-term.

The coaching search was a failure. Period.

I think that would piss me off more. Knowing we had a great offensive coordinator and Les still fcking with the game plan and play calling

O is better because he has and will listen to both coordinators, Miles did not do that and did not remove his coordinators when they were effective or he removed them but it was too late. O won't make those problems.

Clemson was not the same program that it is now. At the time, they did not have to face a whole lot of negativity outside of their fanbase settling for a WR coach.
