O flaming out like a bottle rocket may have been the best outcome we could hope for.

Honestly, now that the ashes have settled, i’m kind of glad he did.

After the goodwill 2019 bought him, he could have limped us into mediocrity with 8-4 seasons, an occasional win against Bama (let’s not forget we could have beat them last year.) and we’d still be languishing on a slowly sinking ship while other programs passed us by.
No, he HAD to crash and burn, spectacularly,
to get him out after, let’s be honest, the best season an LSU fan could hope for. So I’ll give him his deserved props for 2019. Like it or not, he did put together that team and made a lot of the hires and the recruits, especially Burrow.

Better a rocket that takes us to the top and burns out bright than one that never gets there.

Better a bang than a fizzle.

And now, because he crashed and burned, we have Coach Kelly who looks extremely promising as a legacy coach.

So, I’ll take it. Better a year of ecstasy followed by a couple of extremely weird years of sucking followed by promise,
Than the never quite good enough purgatory we went through with Miles.

Ripping the Band-Aid off and getting rid of O was the best thing that could’ve happened to the program. I must admit I was always skeptical of the hire due to O being fired from Ole Miss and USC and the horrible, embarrassing loss to Troy.

2019 was such a euphoric time. It was magic and will never be replicated again. O got Burrow to commit, so I am thankful to him for that, a plethora of 1st round draft picks on that team, and of course Aranda and Brady, the brains behind it all.. Ultimately, the biggest life lesson you can takeaway from the collapse of Orgeron is that complacency will lead to failure in whatever avenue you choose in life.

Absolutely. The worst possible outcome when we hired him would be mediocre seasons which is what I expected when we hired him and what he was doing until 2019

a slow decline would have set us back ages but a quick crash can easily lead to an as quick rebuild

The stage is still set for many good seasons to come

I agree. That type of success in 2019 was not sustainable under O's leadership.. I liked O. Wasn't crazy about us hiring him, but he and Busch got us Burrow and it lead to the best LSU season we have ever witnessed. Just glad the emotional, weak arse group of people that bungled the firing of Miles/Jimbo hire wasn't around to screw this up. Woodward took his time and didn't give a shite when the fans got restless for news. He's been a solid AD as far as homerun hires go.

And let’s be honest, O would have never hired Aranda had it been up to him.

I think he would have ended up like Philip fulmer. 1 championship but an eventual decline with some high and low moments left in the tank like A&M etc

Once Aranda left, the ride was over and even he knew it.

I can't help but wonder what our record would've been with Myles at the helm last year. We'd beat Bama for sure. Only lost by 6 with Max completing just 50% of his passes. Beat UCLA and Auburn probably. Damn sure would've beat freaking Arkansas. God that was a frustrating game.

Not just Aranda. Orgeron lost Ensminger and Joe Brady as well so he had to replace coaches on both sides of the ball and he didn’t know how to replace any of them. This led to the complete disaster we witnessed. Throw in Covid and it was comical.

Aranda, yes, but one thing that is evident is that Ensminger was the offensive coordinator. Brady brought a playbook from the Saints, but there is a ton more to being an offensive coordinator. He’ll probably be a good one before his career is over, but Ensminger was the man.

Agree 100% A couple of 8-4 seasons and he'd still be the coach.

Yes sir, Ensminger gets shite on a lot by dumbasses on here but he was the man behind that offense, he’s a highly experienced, accomplished coach, deserves a lot more credit than he is given

Red Zone TD% by year

2018 51.67% 119th nationally
2019 78.67% 4th nationally
2020 52.67% 104th nationally

3rd down Conversions

2018 40.00% 57 nationally
2019 49.73% 4th nationally
2020 34.62% 102nd Nationally

Youll see drastic changes in YPP and scoring.

Steve without Brady looked about as good an OC as Canada.

Best case scenario would have been firing Ed the second he walked off the field after beating Clemson, and replacing him wit Dave Aranda.

I mean…O could have rode off on a shrimp boat with a Bevy of blondes a beloved LSU coach…

But I bet he prefers millions and millions of dollars than a beloved legacy.

He got 2019 and all the accolades that brought and honestly, that and millions are enough.
