But why?!? Why should LSU baseball ever be in a rebuilding year. Someone's not doing their job. A so-called "Flagship" university like LSU should never struggle with pitching in bb and qb in football but they do. Horse s h I t.

First time Hess is getting real starting experience, spring nd fall ball is different. It's a lot of pressure to start opening night for Gilbert. I think we are good.

Sunday starter will be a big ? I just hope we find someone who can fill that role well by SEC play.

On the other side fo things, bullpen good so far which is a surprise.

Veitmeyer is showing a lot of promise. Maybe one of the other freshmen pitchers can step up and just move those two back to the bullpen

What do you call a rebuilding year?

A "rebuilding" year for LSU still ends in a regional appearance and a better season than 80% of college baseball teams. What do you want when 2/3 of last years rotation were drafted and the other is hurt?

How in the hell are you writing this season off as a major disappointment anyway whenever the second damn game of the season isn't even over yet?

a "rebuilding" year IMO would be if we didn't host a regional and maybe not even considered for one. It's early but I say we are a bubble host team right now. They made a good point on the radio today. These games are good for late season reasons because it puts young guys in key situations in games that don't matter a whole bunch, but you want to win. LSU always seems to finish the regular season strong and including the SECt. Not always transferred to NCAA well but last year it did.

Gilbert and Hess weren't question marks

Gilbert has been inconsistent since he got here, and Hess hadn’t been a weekend starter. I’d say that’s question marks, but I do agree about let’s see what they do next weekend.

there aren't ?s in terms of starting rotation, we need them there. ? is how good they will be. But that could be everyone, with a couple exceptions.

If Hess does not do very well in his next start, do you think Manieri will start thinking about moving him back to the bullpen?

And if so, who, maybe Veitmeyer, or another freshman pitcher can become a capable starter?

Jeeez....

It was only a year ago that people were shitting themselves over how bad we looked. And we ended up in the National Title series.

Baseball isn’t football. We don’t need to dominate every game. Give them time to gel for fricks sake.

I don’t think anyone here can tell you what PM could be thinking. He’s made changes before, that are head scratching when he makes them, but end up being great moves. I don’t think he’s ever come out and say how long of a leash he will give Hess in a starting role.

These early season non conference baseball games are about as meaningful an an NFL preseason game.
