TBH, I would like if the polls wouldn't be complete jokes over half the time. It's already terrible with the amount of bias that comes from the pre-season ranking.

so lose to #1 and then drop? what kind of logic is that?

#3 is supposed to lose to #1 so really, they shouldn't drop at all IMO

Yeah, and TBH they did pretty well on defense. They lost the game on offense and special teams. Score probably should have been a little closer.

While I agree with this, LSU dropped something like 11 spots when we lost to Bama last year. It's the consistency that's the problem.

Why exactly should they fall out of the top 10 after a week 1 performance against Alabama?

Nice name calling. And what does that have to do with falling 11 spots after losing to the number 1 team? Our previous ranking already reflected or losses prior to the Bama game. The only thing that changed is that we played a tight game against the number 1 team.

Maybe there's a lack of consistency, but think about this. It was the worst offensive performance by a Bama opponent at that point in time in the season. I would never expect that game to be a quality loss of any sort.

I'm willing to bet it was Bama's worst offensive performance of the year too. This is just one example. The polls are absolutely inconsistent. Even if they don't matter.

I've been saying this for years. The voter polls are nonsense. They're a dinosaur. Ignore them.

Focus on winning the West and getting to Atlanta.

Can't look at it like that until they play again. As far as what can be gone by is they lost to the #1 team in what was a close game for the most part.

And FSU dropped 7 spots.

Jimbo is very good with developing QBs and so I wouldn't say they don't have a QB. But it's an unknown at this point since Francois is out.

It was a 6-point game toward the end of the 3rd quarter when they basically blew the game on special teams. Otherwise, the stats were pretty even overall (Bama obviously rushed better and FSU passed better). They're giving FSU the benefit of the doubt with their talent and a 5-star RB that just played his first college game ever against the best rush D out there each year. They still dropped 6 spots.

People get mad about preseason polls "they haven't even seen the team play, it's just a brand name and stats from last year".

I don't mind preseason polls, what gets me is when it doesn't change dramatically the first couple weeks when you can actually see the teams.
