Vandy has a lot going for them:
quote:

- disciplined, solid defense which will slow or stop our bad offense

They have the 10th ranked defense in the league against one of if not the easiest schedule thus far in the league
quote:

- mobile, playmaking, experienced QB

This same guy was shut down by our horrid defense as a 5th year senior last year

This will be very tough to win, sadly

it really shouldn't be.

he's not a better runner than Sellers. USC just has a horrendous OL. Pavia would have been sacked 10 times last weekend if he was behind center for USC. Sellers having positive rushing yards Saturday was a testament to how good a runner he is.

- home field (although Vandy, still not Tiger Stadium)

Other than the physical act of travel for the road team, Vandy has absolutely no home field advantage. When they are this good, they may have 50-60% of the fans in their own stadium, which is already the smallest by far in the SEC. It’s basically a neutral site game for other SEC teams.

Pavia is very good at shedding tackles and taking advantage of situations with his feet.

He also had two critical turnovers vs Bama once they put real pressure on him. Both of them looked exactly like what all of you get onto Nuss for- him trying to play hero ball.

He’s going to make the same kinds of mistakes vs our secondary.

While this could be correct…vandy’s OL is much better than the OL of back ups SC had playing the majority of the night Saturday.

Pavia will turn the ball over.

LSU should win this game by 2 scores, but until the offense shows it can do anything of substance against a team other than SLU, it’s hard to say this won’t be a dog fight.

The early kickoff and lull you to sleep venue isn’t going to help matters either.

Vandy is a good team, but Pavia isn't Sellers and Vandy doesn't have the skill players that Ole Miss did. The defense is going to give Pavia fits.

Ole Miss’ RBs and multiple WRs are why we played more conservative and kept 2 high safeties for most of the game. We couldn’t just focus on Chambliss because of the weapons they have around him.

When our defense can focus on one guy like they did with Sellers and dare others to beat us, that’s when the opponents really struggle to put together drives consistently. Vandy is well-coached, but they just don’t have top SEC skill talent outside of Pavia.

He’s a better runner & more savvy with the ball, leading them to be able to run a lot of misdirection stuff. LSU has to jump ahead and force him to throw the ball

In 3 games vs P4 teams (Va Tech, USCe, Bama) Pavia has averaged:
189 yards passing and 46 yards rushing. He has 5 TDs vs 3 INTs and no rushing TDs in those games.

I actually think Hilton should be out of the rotation and all his deep shot attempts should go to brown

Its disappointing because the receiver who is best at running by people is Hilton. Brown has elite speed but Chris is better at getting behind the defense. He just hasn't been able to consistently come down with the shots for whatever reason. If Brown does get the opportunities hopefully he can come down with them because that will open up this offense and make it that much more effective in the running and intermediate passing game.

Agree. Make him start forcing things and he’ll make mistakes against our defense. Can’t let them get in pole position and start running clock.

I caveated that point. Still more comfortable for them. It’s a slight advantage in a list of other things I listed. If this was in Tiger Stadium I would feel a lot better, another way of saying that.

We should compare NILs. I said it last year, that Vandy was impressive because I guarantee theyhave HALF of our NIL if that.

That factors into it. Vandy is a better team which helps their QB perform better.

Definitely think he is, because he has more of a plan with the ball. They have some solid designed runs that will throw lsu off.

He's quicker, and he's has more football IQ than Sellers, and he can throw the ball. This will be a game that Perk is critical in. May not be stat wise, but we have to keep Pavia contained and make him throw the ball just so we can intercept it.

We could have Malik and Brian Thomas out there and it wouldn’t matter if Nuss can’t consistently get them the ball and Vandy drops 8 like Ole Miss. Nuss just isn’t good.
I call shenanigans.

I've been as hard as anyone on LSU's OL this year. But against a pretty good front 7 from USCe we moved the ball and actually RAN the ball more effectively. Nuss got over his aversion to green grass (or was finally allowed to run), and had more zip on the ball and a quicker release than we've seen in previous games.

If the game against SC wasn't a fluke, I seriously doubt Vandy (or anyone else for the rest of the season) will be dropping 7-8 against us.

And, food for thought: even if they do, Green will make them pay for any one-on-ones along the sideline if he only has a single defender covering him.

I'm still think this will be a tough game because it's an early kickoff at an away stadium. But if LSU can mostly replicate the offensive improvements from last Saturday I like our odds much better than I did after the OM loss.

I agree that a win is far from guaranteed. A loss amounts to a portent of serious problems ahead.
