New potential HC is watching

Guys -
Keep in mind, all of the potential coaches that Woodward is interested in or will talk to, are interested to know how the administration handles this.
Coach O had a great run his 1st few years, up until after we won the Natty.
By letting him finish the season, honoring the financial terms of his buyout and holding a joint press conference and giving him respect on the way out looks good on our administration.
This is important. Big name potential replacements would want to know that we didn’t tar and feather a National Championship winning Louisiana native on his way out…..
Handle it with class.

I agree 100%. I also hope paying the full buyout doesn't result in bargain shopping for the next head coach.

They're not letting O go to hire someone mediocre. 3 of the 4 national championship winning coaches that are active are gonna get phone calls. I doubt Mack Brown does, but who knows. LSU wants to be the next dynasty, and they know we have everything needed except for the coach that can win consistently. If they were gonna bargain shop, it would've been with O's buyout, but they're even being smart there by saying we have to part ways but we're going to hold up our end of the bargain and have an amicable split.That way O can finish the season, and still speak very positively about what LSU has to offer with recruits.

I've seen multiple posts about EdO getting paid not to coach.
And yes, while that has a lot of truth to it. And yes, there is a class & marketing aspect to it for the next guy as you said wheelz007.
But I will combine these two thoughts and add to what you are saying OP...
Instead of getting paid not to coach I prefer to view it as he is getting paid to set the table as well as possible for the next coach to make it as an attractive job as possible.
No interim with the team quitting. As bad as things have been the players keep continuity with the coaching staff in place. Recruiting continues with the same faces.
Instead of walking into an imploding program the new coach will be able to (hopefully) walk into a program that has been easing into a [significant] change without too much chaos, lost recruits, and 3 recruiting classes that finished out 2021 with something to play for.

I completely agree.
Keep the program as stable as possible.
Keep the team together and give them a reason to keep fighting thru the season.
Keep the recruiting class in tact.
Squash as much of the drama as possible.
Give National Championship coach some dignity….
Go find new coach.
