I am as old school traditionalist get off my lawn as they come, but for some reason this uni intrigues me. Would love to see it modeled in normal lighting. I know the players love to mix it up once in awhile, let them have some fun.
That said, I still love the classic Tiger P&G!!

My argument is their intent has been the same from the start. Promote and sell. If you don’t think Nike is in the business of making money...
It doesn’t matter who makes the decision. The line has been started and schools can jump in when they want. The intent from Nike, however, remains the same.
Look at their first jerseys and the schools that used them in 2009. Mostly big names and big fan bases. Maximize exposure and jersey sales.

Nike designs alternatives to sell jerseys.

I've not said anything remotely like this

I'm talking about why it happens in 2018, not when Nike launched a new line of tech almost 10 years ago.

Nike launches a new line of tech every year

because alternate uniforms are more popular now than they were in 2009

Because Nike created a line to sell more products and, rather smartly, has colleges lining up to create their own versions.

Nike does this every year

Because the players and recruits want them. Nike still can't make schools sue them.
Can TH or Roger show me any sort of profits Nike makes of the alternates?

I only read through a couple of pages and I'm surprised so many people don't like it. I like the jersey design, the font and the helmet. Certainly not permanently, but for one game? shite yeah.

Facts.....the kids love them, thats all that matters. Who gives a dam what the hating arse grandpas think. I'm big on tradition too, but it wont stop me from rooting for my tigers!!!

Kids eat it up...and recruits love that swag stuff as well. It's the Oregon effect.

Like I said, they don’t have to. They have schools wanting them. It’s good business by Nike.

I don’t work for Nike so no, probably not.

I'll need to see the full uniform together before deciding if I like it. The helmet will probably be the make or break part. The jersey just looks really boring and the numbers suck. I'd probably prefer a regular purple helmet to the over the top color changing and shiny helmet, but I guess we'll have to see what it all looks like together.

This can't be understated, see Michigan and Jordans. Brilliant move by Michigan.
I love LSUs traditional unis, and like that we keep them classic for the most part. But one alt uni for one game every other year (which is about what we're averaging over the last 15 years), bring em on!
I don't even care if they're over the top, what's the point of doing it at all if you're going to be subtle??? That said, I really like these, think they'll look sharp on Saturday.

What game are we supposed to be wearing these for??
