I didn't know Alabama took down Gonzaga.

Man, I've been living under a rock. Apparently Gonzaga's defense is not that good or they just couldn't handle Alabama's athleticism.

I only mention this because I was under the impression that Gonzaga and Duke were in a class all by themselves above all SEC teams and I believe LSU is a better basketball team than Alabama.

LSU as number 2 seems almost laughable at this time of the season but if fellow SEC teams that you think you are better than are beating the likes of Gonzaga, number 2 may not be far off.

Gonzaga is overrated this year but still good. Their losses of Kispert, Suggs, and Ayayi are hurting them more than anticipated.

Rutgers lost on the road to Illinois the previous game 86-51.

I've watched Gonzaga a few times and I still wouldn't be surprised if they are a final four team. Bama overwhelmed them a bit with athleticism but it was really just Shackleford going absolutely off on them from three that was the difference.

NET is not going to react quite like polls would and overreact to particular games. It was a road game for Purdue and while Rutgers aren't having a great season it didn't evaporate all of Purdue's previous results. Defnitely would be fun to have #1 NET rank but it isn't overly important to be 1 vs 2. Anything in the top 10 or so will pull us closer to our goals than what humans are going to think.

Just win Saturday and the respect will have to come at some point.

Yeah, so you get back on transition defense and defend the 3 against bama. Give them contested long range twos and guard the f out of the paint and the 3 point line and rebound. That's how you beat bama.

Maybe a little of both. Gonzaga's defense isn't quite as good as they have been over the last few years. Alabama's perimeter, when clicking, may be the best in the country. Alabama hit 9 three's in the first half and ran out to a 16 point lead at HT. Gonzaga played better in the second half, but they essentially had to play the uptempo game Alabama likes and Alabama had enough of a cushion to hold them off.

There probably isn't a dominant team right now. Duke looked great...then blew a big lead to an OSU team that had been a bit up an down. Gonzaga is still really good. Just probably not quite as good as last season. Alabama lost to Iona...then beat Gonzaga. (Side note: Houston is at Alabama tomorrow night. Houston is one of the best defensive teams in the country. It should be a good matchup). Purdue looks like they could have one of their best teams ever...then they lose to 4-4 Rutgers last night

True. But LSU is probably one non-conf. loss away from taking a fairly big tumble (that's how close the margins probably are).

IMO, I would probalby rank the SEC right now:

1. Auburn
2. Alabama
3. Kentucky
4. LSU or Tennessee
5. LSU or Tennessee
6. Arkansas
7. Florida (though they have fallen off a cliff after looking great in the first 2.5 weeks)

However, the margin between 1-7 is very, very small.

It was Saturday during the conference championships for football. Easy to get lost in the shuffle.

Arizona was #1 yesterday. We were #3. We moved up to #2 after Purdue’s loss.

We were 2 on Monday, dropped to 3 on I think Wed and back to 2 today. Could be 1 after Sat. I think it moves every weekday. Not sure about weekends. Doesn’t matter now anyhow.

tGeneral is even great at scheduling. Rantards complained our schedule was too easy yet look where we are in the NET rankings compared to #12 Arkansas.

They’re one of the several undefeated teams remaining along with LSU yet their NET ranking is 42. 7 of their wins are quad 4 wins

I agree. This could change in a weekend, but I think Kentucky is probably a bit overrated at this point (may be able to say the same about LSU too) and Auburn is a bit underrated

Unfortunately, Alabama is going to be good.

Tennessee is a Rick Barnes team. They will be good, but fail to reach their full potential.

Florida looks like they will be Florida. Beat someone like Kentucky by 15...then turn around and lose to Georgia by 21

Basketball rankings are shite because they depend too much on the past 10 years of success. You have to practically start undefeated the first 1/2 or through 3/4 of the season to get any respect if your name isn't Duke, Gonzaga, Georgetown, etc.

You can't control the rankings but you can control your team. Play well and you'll move up and make the tournament. Then you shock the world!

I think it’s a fluid ranking and as soon as a game finishes they input the data and it changes real time. Not 100 percent sure on that.
