Why haven’t we seen more of him?

Maybe he’s not ready or he’s just not very good?

I have been wondering the same thing. He has the measurables and a year under his belt. I thought we’d see a lot more of him this year.

Hasn't played yet this year, which tells me he's either hurt or really not good, becuase there's no reason not to play even the end of bench guys in some of these blowouts if they are healthy.

If he's not hurt and he's not playing, sounds like a potential portal guy after the season.

If that is, in fact, the case, then that would mean Orgeron, a guy who was ONLY known for DL recruiting prowess prior to becoming LSU's HC, has largely whiffed in recruiting that area since becoming HC.

Now, that issue seems to be being rectified with this class. But going into next season your depth is going to be largely comprised of Freshman (assuming Farrell and Logan are your starters).

No doubt the 2018 class is turning into a disaster after a few top guys.

It was mentioned that he’s been hurt since pre-season camp but it nearing a return. Not sure if that means he’ll log significant time since we don’t have many more cupcakes on the schedule and starters are returning from injuries of their own.

this is such a stupid take. For many reasons.

Terrace Marshall
JaMarr Chase
Damone Clark
Chasen Hines
Baskerville
Dare Rosenthal
Damien Lewis

Oh yeah, such a shite heap of players not to mention that this is the RS freshman year for a lot of those guys.

Thanks for proving my point, we signed 22 guys, right now we've got 2 bonadifde starters and NFL guys in Marshall and Chase.

Clark has emerged as a part-time starters and is good. Baskerville is a backup still at ILB.

Hines and Rosenthal are backups on the OL. Rosenthal does look really promising. Hines kind of fell off the map a bit this year compared to last year, not sure what happened there.

Lewis was very good last year, has fallen off this year but so far has held onto his starting spot.

So again, top guys are doing some things, specifically Marshall, Chase, Clark and Lewis. Rosenthal, Hines and Baskerville will probably be next in line in coming years.

After that? And I'll categorize:

DE Jarell Cherry - Made move to DE after getting up to 280, but hasnt really played this year
DE/OLB Trazvez Moore - Didnt really get on field last year and still struggling a bit this year as well
OT Badara Traore - will just be a backup here on the OL, graduating and leaving
S Kenan Jones - Made move to S from WR, who knows what he will bring
RB Chris Curry - Kind of already is losing reps to freshmen
OT Cam Wire - Has a ways to go at OT
WR Jaray Jenkins - Really buried on WR chart right now
DE Nelson Jenkins - Hasn't played almost at all so far

DB Kelvin Joseph - transferred out
DE Davin Cotton - transferred out
OLB Dantrieze Scott - transferred out
NT Dominic Livinston - transferred out
C Cole Smith - transferred out
TE Zach Sheffer - transferred out
RB Tae Provens - transffered out

So from 22 guys, almost a third have already left (7), another third have done nothing to next to nothing and maybe dont have a ton of upside as of now and then a few are looking promising for the future and a few at the very top are looking great.

So again, how was my statement inaccurate? We generally don't lose a 1/3 of a class that quickly to transfer, we also generally speaking get a few more contributors overall from a class. Still give it another year before definitely coming to a conclusion there, but it kind of makes sense considering how low ranked that class was compared to most others we bring in. It shouldn't be surprising we've only found a handful of good players really. Just compare it to 2017 class and it's a pretty stark difference.

He’s been hurt and cross training at several positions. With Ingram back, he will probably play a bigger role.

Wouldn't that be the opposite is true? With Ingram back he would be playing even less, at least at guard where he was kind of rotating a bit with Magee.

They moved him to center for now but it's obviously going to take time there. If Cush comes back for 1 more year, Lewis just wont be playing much.

In the end I still included him in the upper 1/3 of guys from that class that showed promise at least. The other 2/3 of the class is the one specifically I was pointing out (who I broke down into transferred/hasnt done much yet).

I mean it's certainly looking like this class will produce a lot less players than the class right before it (2017). Are we going to pretend the 2018 class was a really good one when we've simply just gotten better ones? I didnt say the whole class stunk, just said after the top guys, it gets pretty grim.

That isn't just a "we" thing. Find me ANY other FBS team from the last 15 years where 1/4 of the class never even so much as played a snap before transferring out. Yes, 2018 gave us some studs. Joe Burrow and Cole Tracy can also be technically considered class of 2018, even if O kinda fell backwards into lucking out on both guys. The only good news to take from this is that 2019 looks to be a massive turnaround and 2020 may be one of the greatest classes ever signed, possibly even better than 16 or 14.

Right?

Cole Tracy & Joe Burrow also have claim to the 18’ class.

Kelvin Joseph too. :(

Cam Wire will one day start on the OL I believe.

Objective speaking, the norm for a good recruiting class at LSU is 4-6 studs, a few “program players”, then a bunch of crap. It just so happened that the bottom tier guys in 18’ showed their value early, some by transferring, some by just being buried.

Not sure what’s up with Jenkins but Bama was on him late. Saban wanted him bad.

I was just talking the recruiting class itself, not transfers. Because we kind of flubbed up the end of the '18 recruiting class it did allow us to get a few transfers, 2 excellent ones, 1 kind of throwaway one (Alexander). So that was 1 very positive thing from it on top of the good players we did get (like Marshall/Chase).

The class wasn't great, but you are overplaying it.

If you sign 25 per year and redshirt a good portion of those, you have to get rid of 6-8 players per year.

Many of the players you are saying are busts are only redshirt freshmen, including several offensive linemen that are expected to need development.

How is Burrow any different than Traore and Lewis?
