The only reason there are no games on New Year’s Day is because it falls on a Sunday and the bowls and the pros don’t want to compete with each other.
And the games are spread out because the networks want one on TV every night.
Everything is driven by TV money. Even these crappy bowls.

Not sure why folks downvoted, but this is exactly correct.
CFP games count for something. The other bowls are basically exhibitions / early practice for the next season.
