Correct me if i'm wrong, but the conferences still have the ability to prevent immediate playing time if its an in-conference transfer right?

Fair to the athlete.

As a fan, I don't like it.

Should have a time limit on this.

That will be the interesting thing. I have no clue how that's gonna work. I'm sure someone with tweet out an update before long.

Not sure what the penalty is but the process would start with being turned in for it. That's what isn't going to happen. It would be mutually assured destruction.

Should be fun

Some 5 star goes to a school other than Alabama

Saban calls him up after his team goes 7-5 his freshman year.

"Hey man come to Alabama and win a national championship, aiight"

This is going to frick over a lot more kids than it will help. There are already hundreds of kids in the portal in football alone that won't find another D1 scholarship elsewhere. Can't wait for all the emotional freshmen to screw their college careers after one season thinking this new rule is going to be their saving grace. The transfer portal and now this are horrible for college athletics and student athletes.

I may be wrong but this seems like a good thing for the athletes. Not sure if it's a good thing for college athletic dept's

It's a good thing for blue-chip players with a lot of options. For the vast majority, not so much

It's also going to do nothing but create an even bigger divide among the haves and have nots of college football

I immediately thought about LSU baseball if PM does indeed retire. Will all of these freshmen stick around?

Oh yeah, it will be bad news for a lot of guys. There are always more transfers than spots available it seems like. And the numbers just keep growing.

Will be interesting to see how this affects the fans, you know the ones that pay for all of this.

Will we remained attached to our programs if each year there are constant new faces vs at least getting 3 years from most?

This will help Saban process more players and replace them with kids that are at other universities.

The powerful will exploit this.

Why wouldn't they? Finding another baseball scholarship is even tougher than football, especially with the backlog of players with a 5 round draft this past year and a 20 round draft this year. Coaches are having enough issues finding enough scholarship money for the players already on their rosters who couldn't go pro last year, nevermind trying to find more money for transfers
