Besides thefact that he has little experience as a DC (not saying that he will not do good if given the chance). The other thing that worries me is what if he does get promoted and Les sends him up in the booth like our previous coordinators? I know his impact on the sideline is huge and i hope he and les can agree on him being more effective calling plays from the sidelines.

(BTW sorry if this was mentioned already I didnt read all the 15 page threads)

Les doesn't send them to the booth. They choose where they want to be as a coordinator.
I believe Bo Pelini was always on the sidelines while Chavis was always in the Pressbox at LSU and at Tennessee and now even at A&M.

Why do some of you always blame Miles for every damn thing you disagree with? If they run out of toilet paper in the bathrooms in Tiger Stadium is it Miles fault? It gets to be ridiculous.

I just don't see him as a DC.. I don't know why people want that so badly other than they love coach O and are afraid he will leave. He's not leaving unless it's a top HC job. What makes people so sure O even wants to DC? I am genuinely asking. Has he hinted at it before? If so, then I understand. He definitely loves what he's doing now.

I definitely don't see him up in a booth. I don't think Miles would "send" him up there. Pretty sure it would be his own choice where he would coach from.

I am not against O being a DC, but I would like LSU to truly explore and exhaust all options first. I also hope this doesn't draw attention away from the need to address offensive and special teams issues. Yes, LSU put up insane amount of yards in the bowl game, which was nice, but that was such a favorable match up for LSU to impose their will on a much inferior talented team. I'm thankful for it, but it doesn't address our issues when we go up against equally talented teams and can't just "impose our will" Where there is less room for error and a need for more creativity and coaching our players up to be in the best position to succeed. I hope we see more positive shake ups coming soon.

You got to be a DC to have experience as a DC. I think being Interim HC and a HC is enough Qualifications.

Anyone familiar with his style, scheme, and philosophy designing the entire defense?

Last year during the Chavis replacement process, before Steele was hired, Coach O told culotta and the prince that he would love to be a LSU's defensive coordinator. He was on the show every Tuesday I think. I'm pretty sure he referred to it as a dream job.

Exactly, I am sure he would do a good job. But if he hasn't been a DC before I would its because he has never really had the desire to be.

Negative posters need a central bank to place their daily deposits so their negativity will grow and multiply. Les Miles has been their institution of choice where they get the highest return.

Chavis had easier access to hotdogs in the booth.

The only style that seems to be floating around from his 05 and 06 D is that he wants a lot of pressure on the qb.

I'm worried that if it doesn't work out he will leave. Once you are promoted, you won't accept a demotion.

This is a good point. Coach O has a huge impact on the sideline (as far as the D-line goes). Imo, the best place for a DC is in the booth, they get to see more. Having said that, didn't Kirby Smart coach from the sideline??

Good Point. If he is promoted and Les leaves after next year, the next HC is going to bring his own DC. It's much easier to sell O as DL and recruiting specialist to the next coach then forcing a DC on them.

Because Miles is the head man in charge. That's the way it works. Miles has the power to make any decision he sees fit.
