I'm a little worried about LSU's passing attack going into the game.
I think too many posters are short selling the amount of time Mett (with limited schooling and an entire offseason) was able to devote to nailing the timing with Beckham and Landry to make the offense so successful this year.
I really hope that Jennings and the receivers (especially with the NFL looming) have found enough time to get the passing game down.
It goes without saying, LSU's inexperienced defense has been been porous and undisciplined all year and really has come up with no concrete answers. Won't help that Johnson and Ferguson's mind may be with the NFL now as well.
I'll be pulling for an LSU victory, but I could see an Iowa victory. Iowa will roll in like a well-oiled machine while LSU players will be making the transition either to new leadership roles or an exit to the NFL.

The OP seemed fairly reasonable and I was intrigued with the conversation. However, as the pages went on (and on) he seemed to lose sight of reality.
Oh well... GEAUX TIGERS!!!
And I CAN'T WAIT UNTIL 1/2/14! Oh yeah, baby! BOOOOOM!

31-20 LSU wins......it's a noon kickoff so I expect Iowa is used to playing at that time. LSU isn't and the first half will be ugly for us. The second half we will run the ball well, like we usually do and pull away in the 4th qtr. Expect the option to be back in the bowl game.

Hell, spend a little time on Google like I just did and preview some of the early 2014 Top 25 lists. The *best* showing Iowa had was on Athlon's...and they came in at 26, largely based on the fact that they avoid OSU, MSU, and Michigan next year.

Brew - Jennings will extend plays. Mett did not have the ability todo this. Mark it down, we will score on your defense....a lot.
Our D on the other hand is a concern. But I do think you guys are easier to make one dimensional than we are.
I will say this, we commit more penalties than you so this will factor in.
At the end we make a stop or two more than you. Tigers win.

If Iowa plays well, LSU will have their hands full (no matter how motivated they are). This is a good Hawkeye football team that typically shows up for bowl games.
They even showed up to one las tear, weren't invited but they show up to bowl games.

Your vaunted defense gave up 275 yards passing to Lynch, 260 to Iowa State, 277 to Cook, 222 to Miller, and 199 to Nebraska. Only 1 QB this year didn't break 100 yards on yall and that was Gardner.
Hell a pretty crappy Michigan State offense still put up 412 yards vs yall.
Landry and Beckham will be the best WRs Iowa has played all year. Hill and Magee may be the best 1-2 punch Iowa has seen all year.
So Iowa is a running team. Lets compare the #1 and #2 then.
Iowa:
Weisman 209 carries, 938 yards, 7 touchdowns
Bullock 115 carries, 467 yards, 1 touchdown
LSU:
Hill 175 carries, 1185 yards, 14 touchdowns
Magee 79 carries, 614 yards, 8 touchdowns
So the LSU #1 and #2 running backs in 70 less carries have 394 more yards and 14 more touchdowns than Iowa's #1 and #2. And Hill was even suspended for some games and outproduced your RB.
The more I actually look up about this game the more confident I feel. How are those "stats" for ya?

Was your passing offense a product of your great WRs or Mettenberger being a high IQ QB with game experience?
You can't cover both Landry and Beckham with double coverage, and that's the only way to neutralalize them. If you do, hill and Magee will have a field day. Don't discount AJs wheels either.
Oh and don't forget, you have ZERO film on him.
Again tigers by 17+.

Iowa will show up. If your Tigers don't, that's your problem.
Brew its obvious that LSU will against every team in the nation not named Alabama any day of the year. I'm not even sure why they would even play a football game if it wasn't against a top 10 opponent . I mean come on LSU has beaten every team they have ever played that they were favorites to win.
You'd think the line was -21 LSU and not -6.5

Is Iowa a team that thrives on Defense? Does Iowa have an explosive offense capable of scoring 40 on a given day against a solid D?
If the answer to #1 is yes, we're not concerned. We've been playing well against good Ds all year. Our issue has been dealing with explosive offenses. I have no idea if Iowa has one, but I'd bet they don't. Hence my argument.

Not positive the offense could win a shoot out, that would favor LSU. Iowas offense has not clicked all year, that is our downfall. We can get drives together, but whats the point if your scoring field goals instead of touchdowns? I am going out on a limb here and saying if Iowas offense was a tad bit more consistent, we'd be 10-2 going into this bowl game.
This Iowa team has matured over the season and is/was playing it's best ball now. Iowa fans biggest worry should be our red-zone offense, if we are not scoring TDs we will be in trouble.

Ehh Clemson is better than Iowa. More talented and has a more explosive offense. Jennings will have to be terrible for Iowa to win.

Well hell, as long as we're playing that game... If LSU's defense made 2 more stops this year we'd be 11-1 going into the bowl game. I like this game.
