Must win - who do we have confidence out of the pen?

Hopefully Bush gives us 6 (like last outing ca Bama) or more and has us at least in the game.

I could see Gilbert (hometown boy) bridging to Peterson in the 9th.

Other thoughts?

I don't think LSU makes the tournament even with a win tbh.

Mainieri said they're all in for today and that he would even bring Hess out of the pen to get the win today. Will he actually do that? Who actually knows, but I'd love to see it.

I don't see why not. Today would likely be his bullpen day anyway.

Well your opinion would be wrong then
In all projections we are in right now and a win would definitely put us in unless lots of upsets happen in other conference tournaments

That's a lot of contradictions in one sentence.

I think you have to throw the kitchen sink at this game. No guarantees of getting in right now even with 1 win, but at least if you win 1 you get 2 shots at winning a 2nd one. I think if the season ended today we are in, but you never want to leave it up to chance that other conferences won't have some wacko champ. I think 1 win lowers the tension, 2 wins lets us rest easy, and 3 wins puts it on ice.

I'm just always paranoid that there will be 6 or 7 upsets in conference tournaments.

All the projections go with chalk for the conference champs and that never happens. So when 3 or 4 teams get in that shouldn't, that almost completely wipes out the "last 5 in" anyway. Not to mention how tough of a guess those are to begin with.

I've started leaning the same way in the last couple of days. Last week I thought if we won one game at Auburn and finished 15-15 in the SEC we would be a lock to get in.

I now believe the selection committee will look at our RPI and conclude we don't deserve being in the tournament, assuming that we don't go deep into the SEC tournament, which I don't believe we have enough reliable pitching to do.

If LSU loses today, the season is over. No more games.

Have to win today first.
But then getting another win would be key along with the RPI boost from playing Fla and likely another top RPI team.
2-2 in SEC Tournament (effectively 17-17 in the best conference by far) should be enough.

getting another win
I think 2 wins gets us in. Just not today.

Our RPI has never been higher than 41 all season. It's currently 44. We don't break into the 30s with a win.

But if we beat State and UF, then you're talking about some good road/neutral wins to finish out the season plus winning 9 of your last 12 games (although it would be 14 if we lost the next 2).

Well good opinions are usually backed up by facts and the facts are in all projections we are in right now. Right now we are ahead of Kentucky and A&M in the SEC pecking order and with a win today would move ahead of Miss St

Our Rpi could actually move as high as 38 if we win today. The 15-15 SEC teams that have gotten left out in the past had rpi in the 50s and 60s

I think only one projection has been released this week. Baseball America releases Wednesdays. We are the last 5 in for D1. And that would mean we’d be out if just a few conference champs weren’t chalk. With a win, we would not move ahead of state in terms of RPI and they just swept Florida who, in our hypothetical, beats us tomorrow. UK and Tamu are wildcards but I don’t think both lose. It’s no gaurantee that 3 of us 4 make it in. Not to mention that UK and Tamu are 20/25 spots ahead of us in RPI because they don’t suck on the road.

Baseball America's projection came out this morning. We're a 3 seed in Minneapolis.

I had searched this morning and only saw the one from the 16th and figured they'd update again tomorrow.
