One night they played at NLU in Monroe and student section had been raising hell. NLU actually had a top 5 in the country team for a time in the 80s, and the rivalry was fierce. Tech pulled off the win, and Mulkey gave a double barreled salute to the student section. It was a minor scandal in those times.

I grew up watching her orchestrate the floor. Great defender. Generated a ton of turnovers…took charges and cut off passes. Distributed like a damn Amazon driver….and could shoot from outside and drive the lane. She was…is….the total package. Oh…and smart as hell! Straight A’s and challenged herself in the classroom…not just the court.

Damn, great post. She was a freak. Like the TM7 of women’s college basketball at the time. Specifically her situational awareness.

I love Kim Mulkey. I’m probably top 10% of Mulkey lovers. But that charge call she got was bullshite, was it not?
