Just to change it up some, and a little reversal, how about a guy like Chase Pittman? During the whole Evangel/LSU cold zone, he went to Texas to play with his older brother Cole. But Cole died in automobile accident shortly after Chase became part of the Longhorns. He later stated that not having Cole there, and all the memorials to him was too painful to bear. So he came back to the state, and LSU.

One that I haven't seen mentioned is Terry Davis from Bogalusa. Turned down LSU because Cholly Mac didn't pass enough - went to BAMA and the Bear made him a wishbone qb.
Terry beat Bert Jones in their head to head match-up in 72 and beat Jones out for first team AP all-Sec qb that year.

thats true, that is why the longhorns didn't make a big deal(in a negative way) about him leaving, they understood he was constantly reminded about the death of his brother. we were saying the same thing in a way about Warrick Dunn. his mom was a BR police officer and was killed on duty, he probably needed to get away from all the bad memories.
I am going to edit the title of this thread a little.

and he pretty much hates you and I and most everyone that pulls for LSU.
I inteviewed him at the Big XII media days before his senior year. He seemed real nice until after the inteview when I told him I went to school in Baton Rouge too. He asked where. I said LSU. He looked at me with disgust and said, "Oh", like that was the worst place in the world.
Other than him hating LSU I think he's a pretty nice guy!

John David Crowe..Played at Springhill High School and then went to Texas A&M. He was a Heisman winner.

i thought rawls left OU cuz he fell off a truck and broke his hand
Rawls was one of those "troubled" college kids. He got a free ride at Evangel then got to OU and actually had to goto workouts and classes and he ended up losing his scholarship. I think he ended up at La. Tech, but the with the same problems. Last I heard he was playing indoor football for some team in Iowa I believe.

Damn! I'd forgotten all about him! That was a MAJOR scandal back-in-the-day. You would've thought Terry Davis was the Devil himself. Another one from B'lusa, though not as prominent as Terry Davis, is Orlando Lundy. Gave LSU fits while running the option at Moo U.

Believe he was told by LSU he was too small for SEC football. LSU did get his primary receiver, Roggie McGee - had a decent career at LSU but was overshawdowed by Wendell Davis.

I don't hate any of the LA guys that didn't get offers to play at LSU, or play a selected position they felt they wanted and then went on to star elsewhere:
This list: Major Applewhite, Marshall Faulk, Arnez Battle, Kordell Steward
It pisses me off that this guy left because he was really good and we could have used him, but our team was strong enough at the time to compensate for it.
The list: Joe McKnight, Travis Minor, Robert Peace, Rofus Alexander
It really broke my heart because this kid should never have played anywhere but LSU for no reason whatsoever.
The list: Ike Hilliard, Billy Cannon's son
It was disturbing at the time it happened, but history has shown that it didn't make a difference cause he ended up stinking anyway.
The list: Brock Berlin, Brent Rawls, the big defensive tackle I think from Lafayette who went to florida and then transfered to Nicholls
The damn they are good people, but I knew we never had a chance in hell of getting them, and I know they hate us so screw them...
The list: The Mannings
The most hated on my list, because he was awesome, because we really really really needed him to help get us going in the right direction at the time and he turned his back on the city that had just donated thousands and thousands of dollars to his family after his mother was murdered working her double shift and how he paid back their generiosty but by going to Tallahasee to play football, and then to top it all off coming back to BR to help recruit another top running back in Travis Minor to follow him to FSU....
Warrick Dunn*
*Over the years though my perception of him has softened quite considerably due to his good nature, community involvement, and the fact that he has included Baton Rouge in many of his community endeavors. Due to these reasons, the hatred has subsided and been replaced by a general dislike which now is more like a I really don't care so much but I hope he keeps up his charity works.

it's worth noting bobby hebert's south lafourche team beat tommy wilcox and bonnabel in the state championship and fourcade's shaw team in the semi's. my mom and dad sat behind the shaw bench for the semi's and my dad still talks about what a dick fourcade looked like -- throwing his helmet around, yelling at his coach.
wasn't the phrase "we don't owe LSU anything" used at billy cannon, jr's press conference announcing he was going to a&m?
i don't hold a grudge to alot of these guys that were around during the dark days of lsu football in the early 90's. we really were a horrible program at that point.
