Per MM, Almost all passes were in the middle of the field, while outside coverage was good.

I’ve spewed out a LOT of negativity this morning because I saw literally nothing to be optimistic about. But maybe here is something? It’s hard to see this type of pass coverage on TV, cause they don’t show the whole field. So, anyone agree with this?

The secondary and defensive line both looked solid

The linebackers were awful

They covered all the deep passes down field well. The defense as a whole gave up a lot mostly due to the soft zone scheme.

This is pretty dumb because there were a ton of positives and when the CBs were defending 50/50 deep balls, it was almost always an incompletion.

I thought they actually did play well. FSU was picking apart our zone and maybe some of that was mental lapses. But anytime a pass was thrown on somebody in man the coverage was good. I was really concerned about our secondary going into the game but I actually think they are much better than expected. The defensive playcalling on third down was atrocious though.

They gave up a double reverse pass touchdown and a miraculous one handed catch for touchdowns. Other than that, they did look pretty solid.

Linebackers were terrible

I thought the entire secondary looked good.

I was nervous about Brooks early but he settled in as well.

Bernard-Converse and Richardson played a lot better than I expected. Both looked really solid in man.

Their zone coverage needs some work.

Yeah they did. I think defensive scheme hurt our secondary more than anything. The LBs have a long ways to go though. They left the middle of the field wide open all night long.

They didn't look bad. Hopefully they will learn to turn their head around.

Corners were great.

It was the communication between the linebackers and safeties that sucked

Converse looked good. Garner looks like a Sunbelt corner. Got burned on the flea flicker. If there's one thing I will be critical of after last night it's the soft zone House is trying to run. Didn't cut it against FSU and it definitely won't cut it in the SEC. That shite needs to get canned immediately.

Florida st had poor WRs. LSU held up for the most part on the outside. I don’t think this is a barometer test just yet

Middle of field was gashed. LBs and safeties were bad in coverage

In Kelly and House’s defense, they took over a program with 38 scholarship players. Both starting corners transferred in the division and they are rolling with a McNeese and a ULL corner. Can’t expect press man to man with that. It won’t cut it, but it’s what we have this year.

I never thought I'd say this, but Colby Richardson was the best CB we had on the field last night.

LBs were atrociuos.
