who was it that thought Laird would be drafted in the top ten rounds??? Guess we don't have to worry about losing him this year

I love when you guys second guess peoples draft predictions. For all we know laird was gonna be drafted in the 10-20 round range before word got out that he planned on coming back to lsu

That's not too bad for LSU actually. As an Astros fan I didn't think they would have to give him over 6.
The bad thing is the Astros picked mostly college players. Nix is the only other guy they would really have to go over slot for.

Hardly anyone with signability concerns is taken in the top 10 rounds any more, it's too much of a risk to lose the pool money. Likewise, players that are willing to sign for very little are taken much higher than they normally would. See Bregman compared to Hayden Jennings in the 2012 draft.

Nick Longhi who was an LSU signee last year got drafted in the 30th round by the Boston Redsox and I believe they gave him a 440K signing bonus.

Ive heard laird said in pre-draft meetings that he would likely return to LSU.
