Cole is still on the list of best available prospects on mlb.com
Cole's twitter account says nothing about being drafted either.
This should clear it up.
Cole McKay has not been drafted and will likely come to LSU at this point.

Some team may take a chance on him like Mac last year.

True, I guess if they fall through with some draft picks and want to throw a huge bonus at him really late. Just seems like everything is trending LSU.
Certainly won't get my hopes up until the draft is over

Yeah, i'm pretty shocked so many have forgotten where Mac got drafted wayyy late, but still almost signed. I doubt this is over

The only way a team could realistically sign McKay is if they fail to sign their first round selection and is able to allot their pool money from rounds 1-10 ala the perfect storm that almost occurred last year with Aiken, Nix, and Marshall.

Probably, I mean Johnny Manziel got drafted last year. I know it's far too early to celebrate, but I feel a lot better now that McKay hasn't been taken yet.

but was the astros situation last year the norm?
it seemed a bit bizarre

If they fail to sign anyone from rounds 1-10, they lose that slot money and it can't be used to sign other players. Not signing first round pick, takes a large sum of the slot money.

No, and far from it.
The ONLY and I repeat ONLY reason reason Tiger fans were sweating the Marshall signing last season was because the Astros were prepared to offer Aiken way less than his slot and IF they would have signed him they would have been able to use the rest of the pool amount.
If Aiken was not signed then the pool amount could not be used towards others as seen when Aiken, Nix, and Marshall did not sign.
Hope that clears a little up.

If they fail to sign them then they lose all of that money from the pool. Marshall only came into play because the offer to Aiken was reduced after his medicals...but it was still contingent on him signing.

Thanks, Adam. I haven't really followed the draft and recruiting that closely for very long so I wasn't sure.
nvm, i think i got it now

Christian Trent got drafted in the 24th round

So unless McKay screws us like Mac he will be wearing purple and gold next season.

There isnt much to worry about with McKay at this point. It seems like he's very excited coming to school unlike Marshall.

Marshall was an extreme case. The only real worry would be if a team eventually takes him and manages to under slot their top 10 round picks by whatever McMay's price tag is.

I didn't see Sciambra listed under players left to be drafted. Did he not declare?
I only listed current LSU players who were Top 500 prospects or were outside of the Top 500 and are already drafted.
I understand this. I meant on the mlb draft cast. here
Tick undrafted. T. Magee, Reynolds, and Newman are the only LSU players still on the list.

At this point, I dont think anyone that gets drafted we have to worry about losing, unless it's a senior, in which case, they gone anyways.
Chinea is the big question mark, I dont think he'll know for a while unless he's deadset on coming back.
