It's all about coaching. Whether Orgeron has the 1st, 4th, or 14th ranked recruiting classes, we still had teams like Troy and Mississippi State dominate LSU.

I'm all for recruiting the best talent, but many other teams have demonstrated that you don't have to have top ranked talent to win big. Great coaching can coach up 3 star talent and form it into a team.

Unfortunately, apart from Aranda, we don't have great coaching either. So, there's that.

If we face coaches that are worse than Zero we can do the same thing Miss St did to us. Good word.

That's the scary part. If 0 loses those games with top talent, think of what he will do without it.

Its also about roster management to have depth at each position. Mullen was really good at this at MSU. O not so much. Just for reference see that we have 3 eligible corners for next year.

So your point is that we're recruiting lower ranked classes than usual in addition to having poor coaching?

Good talk.

MS State actually has seniors on their roster. We start all freshmen and sophomores.

when orgeron is your head coach that's a major cause of concern.

Most on this site will tell you that having senior leadership does not mean what it used to and that the level of talent is the most important. There is something to that.

I think though that if you can keep guys through their senior years, you produce an overall better product and if you can keep them in there at key positions like QB, LB and O Line, you end up having a better chance of winning harder games against talent laden opponents

Until he was fired, Paterno used to have Jr/Sr laden starters and they were not all 5 star players . A lot of them were 3 and 4 star players. Also, look at OSU they keep key players around for 4 years. Alabama does a good job with this as well.

But, all of the above programs mentioned have excellent coaches who are also good teachers

We had like 5 srs at the sr bowl. Plus Etling wasn't, so there is another sr starter.

LSU also has 3 Jrs projected to go in the first round

This team was not young.

Yep. That was my point.

There isn't much more to say about it. That's where we are.

Sometimes I feel that it may be easier to keep 4 star players thru the senior year.

...not suggesting we go for lower value
