i think after the game miles had no clue what happened, knew he couldn't take the blame (b/c of the fan pressure), and he just vommited out excuse after excuse

Yeah he was obviously trying to scrounge up some good bullshite, but was just jumping from one incomplete thought to the next

If it didn't come from him then that just shows he has no control over his surroundings which could be worse than being a mindless dolt

immediately after the game miles really did try 4-5 different thoughts, and instead of completing one, he'd just move on to the next in mid-sentence. it really was quite magical

Yeah my mind was numb...the funniest part of the night came when he couldn't spit out a word after 6 or 7 'uhhhs' and Jordy had to give him a word to use

Here's a few of points:
1.) Miles may have been saying Tolliver was down before the OM player took the ball. This is dumb considering that would be reviewed. Either way, if he's not calling for a spike, all this is moot.
2.) He may be calling for a spike. If the SEC refs correctly manage the clock, there is at least 2, and possible 3 seconds left on the clock. At that point, the ABSOLUTE correct call is to spike the ball. I think that's what Miles was doing right before the idiots bled the clock to 1 second.
3.) Jefferson HAS to know not to spike the ball with only 1 second left. For this, you can blame the coaches, but that's a totally different issue. There is no excuse for Jefferson spiking the ball. It's game over if you do.

OH yes he is certainly signaling to spike the ball at 1;30. look at how he is jogging down the sideline doing that motion with his arm emphatically! what the hell does that mean in that situation if it's not spike the ball?! and he's trying to justify it by saying he didn't tell him to do it? incredible. Most horrific coaching gaffe I've ever witnessed

This poster is right. He was giving the "he's down signal". Miles blew the game completely but he was not being dishonest. What I don't understand is why he was so concerned about posession given we only had one second left and no timeouts. I guess he was so amazed that we might have caught the ball that he lost sight of the bigger picture. However, I don't think WBRZ did anything wrong because they never said that Miles was signaling for JJ to ground the ball.
Yes, BRZ did say that at the end.

watch his legs. he is motioning to kick. The other motion was TT was down and no fumble

But even if you think he didnt, why the hell was he giving the "kick" signal right before the start of play...........when there is no way he could have gotten the unit on at that time?
b/c he is Miles.

really am trying to see Robb and Tangerines point but I can't. In his post game interview Les starts to throw JJ under the bus then stops and keeps rambling. I just think the guy is so confused he has no clue what's going on anymore.
that has nothing to do with his motions on the sideline

The OP is not saying Miles didnt screw up, just that he was reacting to the Ole Miss player claiming possession. I completely agree. Miles is clearly pointing to the ground, and looking at the ref who was running to mark the ball. He was in no way attempting to communicate with his QB, who was back at the 50.

ka-ka-kaboom to the non-believers.

I looked at the vid and Miles clearly is indicating to kick a field goal, but he's way too late at this point. He should have done this much earlier. As to whether he was motioning to spike or that the player was down, I can't tell for sure, and I can't see how anyone else could either.

Miles called for the spike 5 times.

He motioned to the ground 5 times, agreed.
