The thread is about WBRZ falsely calling out Miles. Start your own thread.

Miles called for the spike, among several of the other boneheaded things he did in that game, yet the O.P. and others on this board are doing the same thing Miles is doing--lying and throwing a 19 year old sophomore QB under the bus.
Here's the deal--
A coach with true character wouldn't even throw his QB under the bus if he deserved it.
Yet here we have Miles lying on this young man while the camera shows everything.
The fact that Miles actually thought his actions wouldn't be caught on camera, in a nationally televised game, further illustrates just how clueless the man truly is.
Stupid and without character.
What a great leader for our football team.

I can tell you after reviewing the slo-mo HD replay, Miles did not say "clock it." The tip of Miles' tongue would have to form on the back of his top teeth and protrude forward to make the "L" sound. The tip never goes to the roof of his mouth. Not once, let alone the multiple times others are saying it did. Especially in the exaggerated tone that Miles was using to get someones attention. The tip stayed stayed down in his mouth.
Didn't happen. Time to move on.
you must be a speech pathology major or know how to read lipd and tounges very well because in this video it sure looks as if he says "clock it". his mouth doesn't look to be saying" he's down". but most of us don't understand what Miles is talking about half the time anyway so it's anyones guess. plus if he was saying TT was down, why wasn't he pointing down with his finger? instead he was making a downward throwing motion, consistent with the act of downing the ball.

You're just ignorant. The WBRZ replay shows Miles only reacting after the Ole Miss player showed the ball
The HD slo-mo of Miles face shows that he never moves his tongue up, therefore cannot possibly say the word "clock"
Miles said in his presser he didnt do it, and that he was yelling at the refs
JJ was behind Miles and there has been no video of Miles ever turning and signaling "clock it" to the only person on the team that could down it
Even the WBRZ reporter came on The Rant and said it was possible that Miles was reacting to the Ole Miss player
He also said he never called Miles a liar, nor did he intend that folks should take it that way
But one thing is for certain, those that are still saying Miles called for the spike, have other motives.

Stupid and without character.
That's what Les Miles has shown himself to be to the entire college football world.
We landed arguably the best recruit of 2008 in Russell Sheperd, but unfortunately, there's nobody on LSU's staff qualified to teach him what he needs to know to be a college QB.
I really feel sorry for Russell, JJ, JL, and the other LSU players who are obviously just out there "winging it" every game with no leadership from the coaching staff.
Pathetic.

This is so far from certain it's laughable.

No but when someone makes a rush to judgement they need to defend it. Cauble no longer can. The video is pretty clear when you see the Ole Miss guy with the ball, and then Miles reaction!!!

The point you are failing to acknowledge is that the game was lost before the spike instance. The likelihood of us getting that play off for a FG attempt was miniscule. Possible, but HIGHLY unlikely on the road in the SEC. That is NOT the instance at which Miles placed his "intelligence" on a pedestal for millions of viewers to witness. That defining moment happened when he allowed the 17 seconds to run off the clock prior to the timeout. What we witnessed there was the agony from each second of an epic 17-second failure of Football Coaching 101 by a head coach of a major college program.
I can take losing in a variety of ways. I can live with a kid on the field making a mental error that costs us a game. I can take errors that are a result of effort. Hell, I can even take getting robbed by SEC refs on the road (not very well, but learning this is a necessity in order to maintain sanity). I absolutely cannot live with someone who makes $4M a year making a colossal blunder that a peewee coach shouldn't make. Being associated with such ignorance is an absolute embarrassment.

We agree. Offensive coaching sucks. All I'm saying, is that the OP is correct on the spike call.

Which is the same motion Miles and another coach was making after this catch. Were they signaling for a spike ball then? I dont think so.
Seriously, can you not read fricking lips?? Quit denying it.

Probably because he's a black qb
where were his threads criticizing lee when he played that god awful game against tech?
I heard first hand info from a top la recruit that he would not be coming to lsu if lee was starting.

He is not pointing to the ground as if to signal down; his hand is positioned in the manner of someone throwing a football. He called for the spike, plain and simple.

oh, now it makes sense with the tongue and cock thing....he was indeed saying "cock it, cock it" while making a downward throwing motion. don't bring that one to court, pal.

I did, and I saw him call for the spike
If you can read lips it appears that he is saying "Clock it, Clock it".

well, some people who can read lips and whatnot believe he is saying "cock it", which makes perfect sense.

Imagine that. LM says he was saying TT was down. I'll be sereving the appetizer and RobbRobb gets to serve the huge crow to all the naysayers.

Imagine that, LM didn't call himself out for lying after the game

Whatever you think Miles said or was motioning, they admitted in the press conference today that the grad assistant "signal caller" (who was on the headset with Crowton) WAS signaling for the spike. Now they claim it was because they thought OM had 12 men on the field.
