Well damn. Someone will pick him up though. He's still better than half the backups floating around the league.

Cleveland should be his next stop or Buffalo or Denver.

It might be that time to call it quits. Great QB for us, will always remember the good games he gave us. I'm sure he'll succeed in whatever he decides to do with his life.

Didn't know what you were referring to, but damn!

Claimed off waivers from the Chargers last August, "Mett Show" spent a year holding the Steelers' second clipboard behind Ben Roethlisberger and Landry Jones. He's had a good run, should have made enough money to set him up for private business. No backup will ever do what Flynn was capable of doing money wise though.

ETA: don't know if he cares about coaching but he would be a good QB coach. Or he could open his own academy and have those HS kids from GA FL SC & TN flock to his training camps.

I'm not saying he's a stud, but go look at some of the backup QBs on NFL rosters and tell me he's not better than those guys.

I'm talking like third string and practice squad. I didn't say he was going to be someone's #2.

Arm talent wise, sure. But the guy is probably the least mobile QB in the NFL, which is a huge issue unless he could go to a team that gives their QB a 3-5 second pocket every pass play. That's Mett's biggest drawback. The fact he couldnt beat out Landry Jones who is seriously TERRIBLE is a huge red flag. I'm not saying everyone has to have Cam Newton ability, but guys like Tom Brady who look hilarious running the ball still can scoot around in a pocket some. Mett just gets wailed on.

Looks like he's earned $1.7M so far. Hopefully some team still believes he can add value.

I'll come back here to eat crow if I'm wrong, but I suspect someone will pick him up.

I liked Mett, but this really is the case.

I am absolutely a "passer first" guy when it comes to QBs. But, it can't be "passer only" unless you're some freak.

He may not be mobile, and may not have a ton of starting experience, BUT...

He has SOME starting experience, and he still has his youth.

Someone will bring him to training camp.

Let's be honest. Mett took some TERRIBLE sacks while at LSU
