Almost every season ticket holder I know is not excited about playing TCU in Dallas. See I can do that too.

But I'm serious, there are a couple friends I know that are season ticket holders with tickets that can't give these tickets away. I went in 2011 and had a good time but have no interest in doing it again, especially against TCU.

As a long time season ticket holder that can't make many away games, this bothers me a bunch as well. At this point, it's beginning to look like any and all marquee type OOC games will be played at some neutral site. Season ticket holders will get Kent St in Tiger Stadium.

This is the only argument with any substance. If not for this point I'd tell all complaining about the neutral site to GFY. Sorry if you want to go see a game at camp randle go, does it have to be an LSU game?

I love the neutral site openers and my friends and I make it a big deal.

They are. But instead of doing a home/away with a OOC team and guaranteeing ourselves at least another home game every other year...we get a neutral site game which takes away another home game possibility.

Id rather know for a fact that i have a ticket and can go watch a home game than constantly play at a neutral site and not know if going or getting a ticket is possible.

Yep! I'm in that group.

Give me a neutral site game VS Wisconsin anyday over a home game against Furmhan. I don't give a shite about "losing" a home game that never actually existed.

Had tickets for 20+ years.

ETA: You're not paying for those tickets anyway.

Good questions

quote:

Do you rather NS games and visiting these cities and playing in pro stadiums or do you rather being on campus and getting the feel of their traditions?

TBH, I enjoy both. But, the only away games I've been to are Alabama, Ole Miss, UGA, Vanderbilt, and Tulane. Only NS game I've been to is Oregon.

quote:

Also, do you have season tickets and do you regularly attend away games no matter the site?

No and no. I think one of the reasons I have no problem with the NS games is that I don't live in BR. I make it to ~3 home games a year. If I lived in BR, I would probably have more of a problem with it, but still think I would accept the reality of the situation and not complain about it on end.

The fact is that for the LSU football program the one NS game a year or every other year are better. LSU wouldn't be agreeing to them if it were detrimental to the program. The season ticket holder feelings are collateral damage. People can complain all they want, but the $$ has spoken. Season ticket holders for the most part have not put their money where their mouth is, and if they do their are thousands of people waiting to snatch up those tickets.

Would you prefer the program return to the state it was in in the early 90s? If not, then LesMilesDealWithIt dot gif

Oh, and the "just win baby" crowd are idiots.

LINK

It is one of the most sought after tickets

average selling price right now is:

quote:

LSU vs. TCU (Dallas), $584.13

quote:

I understand where the economics of the game are, and I will do everything I can to see the Tigers play at Lambeau Field. But I can guarantee you I won't even sniff the LSU waiting list, so it will be off to Stubhub I go. All of the corporate suite owners who go to 1 or 2 home games a year cash in their donations for all of these marquee neutral site games, so what benefit do I get for happily paying my ever rising fees each year??

which is it? Are these games not sought after or are they a hard ticket to get?

I agree for the most part. Madison is a great college town and would make for an incredible road trip for most LSU fans, same for BR and Wisconsin fans. These are two schools and fanbases that could not be more geographically and socially different, yet we are playing them in Houston?

I can see the recruiting benefit at both sites angle, but we already recruit Houston well, and we rarely are going to take kids from Wisconsin/Michigan. Hell, we already nationally recruit better than any school other than perhaps USC and Bama. LSU will have, what, 10/12 games broadcast on national television this season? We don't really even need a whole lot of exposure in the Houston area these days. There's really no recruiting benefit to playing in Green Bay over Madison either.

It's still going to be an exciting matchup, though. Neutral site games are great for isolated matchups, but LSU/Wisky missed a great home-and-home opportunity here. I wonder if either AD was hesitant to play on the other school's campus?

I'm on this side of the season ticket holder fence myself.

I do hate the Furmans, Kents, etc. + 1 or 2 good SEC games (@ 2:30 god dammit!) at TS. But I'm hopeful alot of that is going away with possible 9-game SEC schedule and the playoff format may force a drop of a cupcake.

ETA: reading above... yes, I'm probably in this group because I've since moved away from S La, so EVERY game is a trip for me, be it Sanford, Death Valley, or Dallas.

I'm not saying there is no demand, of course there is. We have had 2 of our suppliers in our office the last 2 weeks with 4 tickets each that cannot find anyone to give their tickets to.

But I run in different circles than you. I have been going to LSU games for 30 years and have been to all of the big games, whether they are home/away/neutral. A game against TCU in Dallas just isn't up there for me or other longtime fans that I know.

I'm not a constant complainer about the home schedule, in fact this is the first post I've made about it. But seeing this discussion, I wanted to share my perspective as a long time ticket holder. Of course we all want to see the best games, and every week can't be the Super Bowl. But it is frustrating to keep paying higher fees and not getting as much for our money as in the past.

For example, if it so important for us to recruit Houston, go play Rice there on a road trip and Wisconsin in Death Valley. Wanna recruit Dallas, play SMU there. Wanna recruit Memphis, play Memphis there. Wanna recruit South Florida, play Florida Atlantic in Miami. Personally. I would go to all of these road trips.

I didn't read the whole thread, but its more than just recruiting in Houston or Dallas, it's the national exposure. It's a win-win for the schools involved. Playing Rice in Houston isn't going to be advertised as a key matchup and wouldn't be one of the biggest games that weekend in the best time slot on the most visible channel.

People who went to college, enjoyed the experience and benefitted from the education, will usually gravitate back to the college enviorns. The sterile atmosphere of most neutral site games is a big negative for many college fans

Ticket postings on websites aren't indicative of how hard tickets are to come by. I've been offered at least 15 tickets to the tcu game by people I know. All Face value.

I don't really hang out with anyone who didn't go to college. Hell, we'll probably have close to 100 people going to dallas for the game
