Memphis has a live Tiger at games?

Memphis is now the only school to have a live tiger mascot present at football games.[3] TOM attends Memphis Tiger home games at Liberty Bowl Memorial Stadium in a special sound proof, air conditioned trailer.[4][2]

I came to post the same thing. Looked like they had it at the game. I know people will downvote but I really wish they'd say screw PETA and whoever else is against it. When you see ex players talking about how intimidating Tiger Stadium is they almost always bring up having to run by Mike and how a lot of guys were nervous to even run beside the cage. #bringmikeback

I looked at his wiki and that would be the source of info for the OP... also they list the secret for their lack of restrictions. He is not owned or supported monitarily by the university. Very interesting...

This is a bullshite claim anyway. Most all of the Mikes at LSU have lived twice the average life span of wild tigers and damn sure didnt die the cruel death of a wild animal.
When we were looking for the next Mike the average wild tiger life span was quoted as 7-8 yrs. Mikes have lived 12-15 yrs. Tom at MSU is currently 11.

Why do so many care so much about this? Other than “it’s a tradition,” is your game day experience really any better or worse with him not being carted around 30 minutes prior to the game?
