I'll grant you that Jayden Daniels and Harold Perkins have been awesome and each can make a claim for that title.
But so can Wingo, who quietly crushes it on every defensive snap of the ball.
He does not get enough credit for his contributions this year.
If you are not watching him, you should be, and he will be important against Arky.
New LSU players, like Daniels, Campbell (Fr.), Jones (Fr.) M. Taylor (Fr.), Wingo, Perkins (Fr.) and nearly an entirely new D. Backfield have made the difference for LSU this year. The returning stars we expected, Maason Smith (injury), Boutte, Nuss, Brennan and even Emery, have not panned out as we hoped.

I’ve said it since the FSU game. Daniels is probably our overall MVP, but Wingo is clearly our defensive MVP. We literally only rotate 3 interior DL, and Guillory’s only giving us about 10 snaps/game. We’d likely have at least 2 more losses without Wingo having transferred, busted his arse in the off-season, developing, and being ready to go as soon as Maason went down. Unfortunately, we just haven’t been able to develop any of the younger DTs to provide any depth yet. I can’t imagine how different our DL—and defense—would be if we had to count on them to start.

Wingo is definitely a key to our success. The D as a whole has made a huge jump. House has us looking like an NFL D scheme wise.

Love Wingo but not sure he would be above Ojulari or Perkins for Defensive MVP.

Yep. We absolutely have to develop Langston, Guillory, and Hill for next year. Roy will leave so you have Wingo and Masson but can’t count on those guys playing 60-70 snaps every game.

He’s an absolute monster and he’s there every snap. His conditioning for a guy his size is unreal.

The QB is constantly rolling right into Ojulari and Perkins because Wingo is putting o lineman in his lap every play.

I could have sworn that some rantards were saying that he might test the draft waters this spring.

"Quietly crushes it" is an interesting description but I take your meaning. He will be needed against Arky with the heavyweights in their backfield. Who will step up in our secondary?

Wingo is so instinctive and smart. He may not always make the big play that shows up on stat sheets and highlights, but he is often doing the little things that allow others to make those plays.

I can remember when some on this board were dismissing the job that Kelly and Pollian did in the portal this off-season. Where would we be without Wingo and all of our secondary haul? What about Daniels? Frazier has become a reliable OL starter . Bramlett has become a very reliable punter and the best player on ST.

We are living off of these guys, some key freshmen, and a our best vets who have bought in and stepped up. Still, this portal class is really at the heart of our success and Wingo is right there near the top of it.
