1. No, he was not. He hit his ceiling and regressed.
2. How bad was Pootz? Watching the Boutte plays, why in the hell was he having Max roll out to the right? He did know max was a lefty, right? It seems as if the coaches did not know how to adjust for this and just called random plays.
In addition to #2 affecting Max real bad, it also showed that they couldn't adjust for any specific players, hence the long developing plays with a shite OL. Man, I am glad that whole staff was canned.

If Myles Brennan wasn’t the clumsiest motherfricker that ever lived, Max Johnson wouldn’t have even started for us last season, much less this one.

Max sucked. His metrics were terrible. He lost his job cuz he was terrible. He will not be good in Jimbo's offense either so i hope he starts for them.

I rooted for Max but I’m not sure he had a conference game that he played well in for 4 quarters all last year.

He had the worst pocket presence of any QB on our roster, including the WR who started at QB in the bowl game. That terrible pocket presence regressed as the year went by and every part of his game suffered from it.
