While I know this will not be popular, 99.99% of the coaches are going to go with the guy that is going to give you the best chance to win now.

Here are the problems with the game today, 1st there is situational scripting to it. 2nd there are only running plays to access fundamentals. As a result we really have no idea how well the QB's grasp the overall concepts of the playbook and even intangible things like the chemistry between the players. These could be the factors that separate the 2..

TJ is clearly the most talented passer on the team
what does that mean? Serious question - please tell me specifically what your criteria is.

Because a strong arm is just one aspect of being an effective QB.

Here are some factors I came up with, in no particular order. Please tell me which ones TJ is better, and why:

Arm strength
Accuracy
Touch
Timing
Quick release
Read defenses pre-snap
Read defenses during the play
Ability to check down
Look off receivers
Pocket presence
Avoid sacks/step up in pocket
Roll out to extend plays
Accuracy when throwing on the run
Scrambling / running ability
Leadership (perhaps most important)

I would be more concerned with the defense....coverage looked like last year.

Certainly each can do some things that the other can't do but Johnson looks to be in the drivers seat right now. Ended the season the starter. Taking first reps in practice. Playing the first quarter today. Unless he slips in fall practice he's the Week 1 starter.

Brennan was literally playing with a broken body and had the idiot Linehan calling plays and absolutely no running game to lean on.

Max should be the starter moving forward. It just doesn't seem like Brennan has it.

As an older fan, I miss the days when the backup Mickey Guidry would play a series in the second quarter each game.

It was reported this helped starter Tommy Hodson as well. When Guidry was playing, he could observe things and make adjustments.

These days, we are so obsessed with team chemistry that this type of thing seldom happens.

Johnson could very well end up the starter. I trust Peetz to make that call. But Brennan is seeing his first real action in close to a year and it's a meaningless scrimmage with base play calling. Brennan will have it together by the fall IMO.

Oline is trash, which QB doesn't really matter, 8-3 unless they get that fixed.

I think JB made that line look a lot better than it was in 2019, none of these guys are in his league.

TJ has too far to go. He simply cannot throw with touch.

I disagree.
His problem, IMO, is reading the defense when under pressure. He needs to calm down and throw it out of bounds when there is no open receiver.
He throws beautiful accurate passes, when not under pressure.

Brennan trots out there in Pasadena to kick off the redemption tour. But, he'd better tear it up, because the leash is gonna be awful short with Johnson's helmet strapped and ready to play.

This is his 5th year and he still hasn’t stepped up and stood out. Maybe it’s time you accept reality for what it is.

He has displayed all of the bolded skills, with arm strength and quick release well above everyone else. Plus, you gave pocket mobility and scrambling ability like 6 different categories. Plus, TJ has the greatest advantage to get you one yard on a QB sneak when everyone knows it is coming.

I really think you will need both this season

I don’t think Brennan stays unless he’s guaranteed playing time as it’s now or never for him

Finley probably thinking about transfer but o is not gonna play him if he continues to throw picks

Nuss needs redshirt but the battle between him and Howard is on for the future after Johnson

Myles had Terrace. Max didn’t.

Pretty stupid point. Boutte at the end of the year was way better than any other receiver including Boutte in the beginning of the year, so Max had that. The offensive line came together toward the end of the year, and the defense became almost respectable.
