will try to type cliffs as they go.
Likes the focus he's seeing out of young guys.
Micah Baskerville is doing great in camp, intelligent LB who can play all three spots.
On Blitzing - has a lot to do with the team you're playing and their QB. Analytics plays a part. There's situations where you rush 4, and times you don't need to.
On personnel packages - we are intentional with our multiplicity. The more different looks you can give the better. Sub packages based on situations. Put players in position to succeed.
Having a dominant d-line helps cover mistakes and bad coach calls. We have the power to be disruptive.
Key right now is making sure everyone understands the scheme. Teachable, learnable and executable.
Ali Gay and BJ are doing a great job off the edge. Savion doing a great job as well. Others getting better and better with each opportunity. Multiple alignments on the front possible. Gives us best flexibility and matchups.
All I'm worried about is the next practice. BJ has a skillset that could allow him to be elite. BJ can hold an interior gap, and come off the edge. Ali gives us a bigger body that can slide around on third downs. They are good but different.
Been really pleased with competition among our defensive unit. Challenging and pushing each other in meeting rooms.
On Colby Richardson: loves the way he competes and approaches everything. Takes advantage of opportunities. Great team mate and brings a great presence off the field.
BJ one of the most coachable guys on the unit. Does right things on and off the field. That accountability shows up on the field.
Perkins, loves the way he approaches the game. Every day is a new learning experience for him. Has great speed and strength.
On Major Burns, does a great job of processing things and communicating. Continues to improve every practice.
Mike Jones is learning inside linebacker well. It's different than what he's used to. Every day he gets quicker and more confident.
When we're in an 11 personnel, we're playing a big nickel base or buffalo. Right now it's Greg Brooks and Sage (missed part here)
Back on Ali Gay - number one is elite length. Good speed to power rusher. Generates a ton of power, and the torque he generates on tackle is just different. He also loves to be taught and that's big.

Some of these guys asking questions are terrible. "Can you allude to..." from multiple people. Geez.

Yeah, so between hearing House talking about this today and BK earlier in the week, I'm gonna need Major to never leave the field.
Ok maybe he can chill in a blowout. But I got too much PTSD from the DBs looking lost the last few years. Them baws need someone diagnosing what the offense is doing and lining em up correctly.

I hope we emphasize “contain”

So is our base nickel a 4-2-5 look?

Swapping a S for a LB would have helped us in several games last year.

Did he say anything about the DBs outside Richardson and Burns?
Posted on 8/19/22 at 12:33 pm to ccomeaux
Matt House is our young gun for DC. I like it.
