I know this, I was just curious as to how he ended up here. When he transfered to CD I just assumed they ended up here after Katrina. I have lived in Toula my entire and I don't know the family name. Thats the only reason I asked.

Word is that Matt and his family are at the Wilson Center visiting Tulane Head Coach Ed Conroy at the moment.

And everything I've heard about Isaac is completely opposite to what elite has said. I've heard he's playing extremely well in their pick up games and he's pushing to start.

If this kid is pushing to start we are in serious trouble. Do you realize he is playing pickup games with other players on this team, who none of them can play except for Turner. I saw him play three times last year and IMO he wasn't even the best player on Pickerings team. Brian Bridgewater a sophmore was clearly better than him in one of the games I watched. This kid is another TJ project who will be a descent player when he is a junior or senior, not the type of kid TJ needs at this point. A kid like Gathers would have been someone to really be excited about and could have helped, but we lost him to a second year coach 3000 miles from here. From what I know Gathers was on LSU's campus three weeks ago and we had no idea St. Johns was on the radar, that is a joke. TJ has no idea what it takes to get a kid like Gathers.

Derenbecker was grossly overrated this frees up a scholly
He did not preform well and cannot play at sec level . Country days district is extremely weak.

Would be shocked if we signed somebody as good to replace him.

So that validates TJ???? He gave away 2 schollies
to land a kid that can't hang with a 5 win team in a weak
SEC conference?!?. Man, we are so far removed from the Dale Brown era. It's a disgrace.

If Derenbecker was all state at Ponchy, then 5A on the northshore had to really be down that year...my nephew played there(Ponchy} and had to go up against the likes of Torris Bright (Hammond} and Chris Duhon(Salmen}..both of whom would have punked Matt

He pledged a fraternity his true freshman year? Yeah, I'd say his priorities were not in order.

well it was All state, not all northshore. So im not sure how that was relevant. He may have been on the 2nd team, thinking about it. Still good for a sophmore

I was hoping Derenbecker could start some games or at least be first substitute off the bench but if I was realistic I knew he was too slow and lacked quickness to ever be very good. Still he could have won a few games for us with his outside shooting. Now it is up to Stringer and Hickey to take up the slack and make some threes when we need them. Turner will get his, no doubt there.

While I dont think Derenbecker was going to be a star I do think he was better than most of the players that will play because he is gone. I think with the two big players coming in Hamilton and OBryan there may have been some spots for a goo spot up shooter to get some good looks.

Reguardless he definitely wasnt worth the cost of giving Ludwig a scholly as well and now Ludwig is the one left on the team so no help there.

Really dont rememember the 5th to 7 best player on LSU's basketball team transferring to the likes of Tulane in Dale's Day.
