Trent doesn't need to grant him a release for him to go to another school.
And everything I've heard about Isaac is completely opposite to what elite has said. I've heard he's playing extremely well in their pick up games and he's pushing to start.

he has no substance abuse problem. out in tigerland every night. had a broken jaw earlier in the year from getting in a fight and had a couple other fights in tigerland this year. he needs to take some time off to evaluate his priorities. don't look for him to be playing anywhere this fall/spring.

he sounds like a little bitch. i remember some guy started a thread about TJ talking to his fraternity and he had mentioned that Derenbecker had problems adjusting to college life and getting his priorities in order from the start.

Trent's best bet now is go pick up guys that play at the Rec.
It could be worse. At least it isn't Ralston Turner we're talking about here.

Can't believe people are still on here defending that idiot Brady? He was trash.

pretty much this plus more.
The coaches granted him a release because it was more trouble than it was worth apparently, as they already look like shite.
Players lost respect for Trent when Derenbecker asked for a transfer and then consequently he got more playing time, last season. Again out of a players mouth not mine.

I don't think the players are very fond of Trent. I've heard better things said about John Brady than I have Trent and many players back then were NOT Brady fans at all

He looks pretty good at this point. Trash wtf do you know to say a statement like that. By the way "trash" has a final four ring. We couldn't be further from that right now and that was five years ago. No one is defending him, I just think LSU could have waited to the end of the year to fire him. I can't believe people are still defending TJ and still think he can get it turned around. He has won 5 games in conference in 2 years. This program is in the worst shape it has EVER been in with no end in sight with TJ. By the way he never lost to Nicholls State.

I'd take Brady back in a heartbeat over Trent right now. Not saying Brady was a great basketball mind (I was ready for him to leave) but I mean, the on the court product is pretty telling.

why are people assuming MD wanting to "excel academically" equals substance abuse or failing. Kid is smart. He had offers to Stanford and other Ivy League schools.
He's doing this to obtain a better education.
I'm pretty certain had Trent Johnson gotten the boot, Darenbecker would still be w/ the team

He definitely has some sort of personal problems he needs to work out. He isn't playing ball or going to school apparently this semester. He never meshed well with his teammates here. I don't blame him for wanting to leave but there's more to it than just wanting to go to a better school.

frick all you Country Day haters in this thread. Ya'll don't know shite. I'd like to have seen anyone of you roll on to campus in a 3 series BMW or sport an Old Navy polo in the hallways. Pull that shite off there and you can kiss an invite to Rex or deb party at NOCC goodbye, I'll tell you that much.
fricking clueless pussies.

Derenbecker's dad to the Advocate:
quote:
LSU did a great job, and the coaches did a great job, of giving Matt every chance to excel aca-demically as well as on the basketball court. We just felt as a family like there were some things Matt was missing in terms of being academically prepared for the college class-room.
Plenty of kids are super smart in HS and then they get drunk too much their freshman year of college.

I wish we still had Brady after what ive seen from Trent. At least the games were exciting when Brady was here.

I wouldn't believe anything in that quote. Knowing Matt and the family's opinion on Trent Johnson and now LSU after not firing him.
This:
is just his dad being a class act.

The Derenbeckers should tell LSU who they should hire and fire as their basketball coach? What? They are mad that Trent wouldn't just let Matt quit mid-season? No offense but if the story is that Matt wanted to quit mid-season and Trent wouldn't let then I don't blame Johnson at all.
Matt wasn't ready for college life by all accounts. He was constantly partying out in Tigerland, didn't mesh well with his roommates. Maybe what he needs is a year to mature.
