Match up Skenes with the opponents best pitcher?

The past two weekends the opposing team has conceded the first game to LSU with Skenes pitching and moved their better arm to the second game. It's worked both weekends. I know there are several reasons contributing to the game 2 loss each weekend, but should JJ wait to see the opposing teams pitchers to make a final decision? I'm admittedly ignorant to the proper application of managing a baseball team, so I'm asking some of the boards more experienced posters their opinion.

No. Our #2 pitcher left the game after 6 with the lead over their Ace last night.

I mean what difference does it really make? When he’s on the mound you have a 90% chance to win the game.
I don’t think changing the day he pitches really matters. We still have the same guys in the pen…

This. You leave Skenes on Fridays unless weather threats make a change necessary. Would look hard at starting him in the 2nd game in Hoover to get him on a schedule to throw the second day of regional play.
