Jones received a $400,000 annual raise in October, 2014 bringing his total compensation to $1.5 million/year.

Could Alleva get him?

Why would Mark Few leave Spokane? Gonzaga is Basketball hierarchy, and that 1.37 Mil is not taxable by the the State of Washington. LSU needs to find a young coach at a mid major in the South that recruits well and coaches a system, not playground.

Crazy that Jones is something like 13/14 in compensation in the SEC. Most are making over 2mill.

Alleva needs to throw out 2.75+ and get a big name.

Take the Alabama route. They made Gregg Marshall say no to basically 4mill before landing on Avery. That should be the blueprint.

Few isn't leaving Gonzaga

I'd look at Matt McCall at Chattanooga or even try to entice Will Wade to come from VCU

Few has had plenty of opportunities to head elsewhere. Notice how during coaching search talks in this sport his name doesn't pop up as much as it used to be. That's an immediate sign it would be a major surprise at this point if he left Gonzaga.

Few is Oregon grad

If he leaves the Zags it will be to coach his alma mater.

at the beginning of last season, with Simmons in the fold, it appeared that Jones was the premier recruiter of this region, only outdone in the south by Calipari Pitino, and UNC and Duke. Louisville, UK and NC are hotbeds of basketball. so we don't expect LSU to exceed them.

Now it turns out he can't actually coach worth spit. Oh oh.

How the once-mighty has fallen. it seemed like Jones could get by with just being a AAU recruiter. After what I saw with TQ, I decided that even with NBA level players Jones was not a guy you could realistically hope would get your team into the elite 8. End of story for me.

I would pay him the 1.5 million and have him be the recruiting coordinator, and title of Assistant HC too. Ego not as big a hit as being driven out.
New coach gets a great recruiter, new coach installs some actual systems of defense and offense. AAU boys learn something besides shooting on the run.

Onward.

Few is probably out of the question but a more realistic option might be Tommy Lloyd, fews right hand man. He's been under few for 17 years so he's learned under a great coach. Lloyd is also the best international recruiter in the country bringing players like Ronnie Turiaf, Robert Sacre, Kelly Olynyk, and Damontas Sabonis among others to gonazaga.
