Margin of error for the basketball team is so small
Reath misses a dunk to put us up 1. Alabama goes on a 26-3 run to put the game away.

It's amazing to think this team beat Michigan & Houston and swept A&M and Ark in 4 games this year. I can't wait to see what Coach Wade does with a roster full of good players moving forward.

Yeah, I can’t recall an LSU basketball team that put together a surprising amount of really nice wins followed by getting their asses beat multiple times.

Agreed though, Will is still going to be the goat. It’s been a fun season overall

Yep. When LSU wins against teams with pulses, they shoot the ever loving daylights out of the three. When they don't, they lose pretty big. On the plus side, they seem to have good plans. Even when we don't execute, you can look at what they are trying to do and make sense of it. A good example is Auburn. We were trying to bust them inside. They killed us from three neutering the strategy, but it was a good thought.

We just lack the talent this year. We beat teams of equal and lesser talent. But there was nothing wade could of done last night. Hand went crazy and sexton showed up. However next year we will have the talent to make a run in the dance

yep, and it'll be nice to have some guys who can bang down low with their back to the basket next year. Reath and Epps just don't bring the physicality you need to be a big on offense.

Yes and no. They didn't shoot the 3 ball well vs. Houston or Arkansas (first game). Generally, when they have beaten the good teams it is because they were able to play passable defense (and the other team was off). The only game where that wasn't the case is the 2nd game vs. Arkansas where the Razorback still lost despite shooting 55%. That's what happens when your opponent (LSU) goes 15/30 from 3.

All season LSU's problem has been defense. While better than last year's terrible effort, overall, LSU's defense this year is still pretty bad. Only Ole Miss is worse in the SEC. Look at the ass-kickings and you'll see LSU just flat out didn't guard anyone.

Bama - 55% (48% from 3)
Tenn. - 54%
Auburn - 54%
ND - 52%
Marquette - 58%!

Other losses

Vandy - 50%
Florida - 52%

LSU is ranked 252 in opponent FG %. (Last in the SEC). It's hard to win games when you allow your opponents to constantly shoot over 50% and you force yourself to overcome horrible defense with 3 pointers.

Wade has done a lot of good things this year and has the program going in the right direction. But, while some of it has to do with a lack of talent (particularly in the frontcourt), his team's defensive results have been disappointing. Particularly for a coach who claims he has stressed defense from day 1.

Offensively LSU is fine and has been all year. They're just really bad defensively.

I'm not a fan of the "Next Year U" stuff but it is clearly applicable to Coach Wade's team this year.

It does look like LSU is really going to be strong next year.
