Malik Nabers record watch - last game as a Tiger

Posted after the Bama game that Malik was within striking distance of breaking the LSU career receptions and receiving yards mark.

With one game to go, here is where he stands:

Malik Nabers - 180 career receptions
Record held by Wendell Davis - 183 receptions

Malik Nabers - 2,858 career receiving yards
Record held by Josh Reed - 3,001 yards

Nabers needs 4 receptions and 144 yards receiving on Saturday to break two LSU receiving records.

Get your arse to Tiger Stadium!!!!

The last td he caught he was not letting go of. His captain asked if he was ready for his mission. He was. Props to this man.

Receptions is easy.

144 yards isn’t guaranteed and tough.

A bowl game doesn’t count?

Not if he doesn't play in it.

It does but I'm assuming he would sit a non-NY6 bowl game. Some mock drafts have started putting him in their top 10 picks.

Crazy part is he basically did it in 2 seasons

Played sparingly as a freshman

I don't like A&M w/o Jimbo messing up the program, so I expect us having to use Malik to get a W.

He said he wants the Biletnikoff so I imagine he will do what it takes to help propel LSU to victory before he possibly opts out from a bowl game.

The coaching staff is fully committed to Jayden's heisman campaign. They tried to get him a TD reception Saturday on the double reverse that was fumbled. I'd imagine this is on their radar.

This doesn't include Josh's bowl numbers. Malik's does. I'd imagine Wendell Davis is the same

Reed's bowl stats pushes his total to 3,336 if my math is correct.

so did Josh Reed fwiw, and Reeds bowl numbers aren't included, which would have been another ~300 yards for him and multiple TDs

It's also crazy how Nabors wasn't going to be a part of this class until, I think it was Smith, that decommitted.

That applies to RBs too, I think Hilliard's totals jump up some more.

But it's still an impressive feat- Wendell Davis and Josh Reed were alltime greats. Breaking their career records is a big accomplishment. For those who point out it's a different era, just consider this- Jefferson started 2 seasons with Burrow, and didn't catch them.

It was actually JoJo Earle that de-committed and went with Bama. Deion Smith played for LSU as a true freshman and looked like a future star but is currently at Juco.

Yes but they need the W over A&M more than anything. We shouldn't have lost last year and this year we CANNOT lose to this team who is playing with a new energy now that Jimbo is out.
