Ma'Khail Hilliard
I have been very impressed with Ma'Khail Hilliard on the mound. He looks cool, calm and confident ......not easily rattled. He seems to have good command with his pitches and his curveball is nasty. He seems to be ahead of Cam Sanders although Sanders was higher rated I believe.

Do you think he could possibly have a mid-week start or two and then move into the weekend starting rotation? Caleb Gilbert just doesn't seem to have it as a starter and may be better as a reliever.

The question remains...will he become the new Lynn Rollins talking point as to whether or not he is or isn't related to Dalton? I sense a narrative coming on strong with that last name.

At some point Lynn is going to compare him to Shane Youman. You know it's coming.

I'm just amazed that he pitched for four innings and Lyn didn't make a negro league comment last night.

That whole thing was so f'ing awkward.

That's all we need. Another "Kramer Robertson's mother is Kim Mulkey", "Bryce and Beau played in the Little League World Series", or "Duplantis' brother is a world class pole vaulter in high school".

I think at this pace he is going to work himself into the weekend rotation in a couple weeks. It was grambling, but he still had good command and is seemingly getting more comfortable. I think it’s possible he starts next week’s midweek game to test him. If he succeeds, then give him a shot at one of the weekend slots.

re: Ma'Khail Hilliard
Paul let him pitch 4 innings for a reason, just not sure why.
Could be looking at him as a starter, long reliever, or just wanted to save the pen for tnite & weekend games.
But, it is not like CPM to leave a reliever in that long in a midweek game.
I can see Hilliard start, he has good stuff and can throw strikes with the best of them.

Don’t forget that he’s above the major league average for spin rate as mentioned a thousand times by Rollins.

I haven't seen a reliable third pitch from him and that is the biggest concern I would have. That second time through the order could be tough.

He doesn't really need his change up with how strong his curve is. If he can be consistent with the change up, then look out. It has a lot of movement as well.

Hasn't been a reliable third pitch between our starters combined.

It's rare for anyone to make it to campus with 3 pitches they could throw comfy in any count.

re: Ma'Khail Hilliard
Rollins has to fill the time with something, baseball is unlike bball where just the play X play will wear out a young man, much less one as old as Rollins.
But, his old sayings can become annoying, I guess that's why Ben is in there, to give us a break from Mr Cliche.

I'd pay $9.95 for an app which would allow me to hear Big Ben but muted Lyn Rollins.

Why was that awkward? That's what it was, what it was called at that time....it is part of history, we can't change it.
