2 road games this week in the SEC including one tonight against a top 5 Kentucky. If we pull off an upset tonight we may be a 3 seed come next week

I'd rather be a worse seed that is not in the bracket with Duke

Plenty games left to be played, I dont want a 4/5 seed and playing the 1 seed in the sweet 16. Im hoping we finish strong with a couple upsets the rest of the way and swing a 2 or 3 seed on selection sunday.

Would be a huge difference in getting a 3 seed over a 4 seed.

Matchups are more important than seedings. Sometimes a 6/7 seed carries an easier path than a 4/5 seed. I don't like this bracket at all. Iowa State is a very good team and Duke is probably the best team in college basketball.

based on the programs tourney appearances (or lack thereof) since the TJ/JJ days, I'm not going to complain no matter what seed we get. I want a 2 or 3 of course and opposite Duke but just dance......

Agreed, Id rather be on the opposite side of the bracket than the 1 seed and have a better shot at getting a win in the second weekend of the tournament.

LSU should have been a #4 seed on Saturday BEFORE the Auburn game. However, once LSU won and 3 of the committee's 4 seeds lost after the announcement, it would have been impossible to justify LSU not being a 4.

A win tonight would put LSU very much in a discussion for a 3 or perhaps 2 seed considering the upcoming schedule. A TALL task indeed. But beat UK and Tenn., coupled with LSU's already very strong SOS and road record, and a 2 seed is very feasible.

The good thing is that a loss tonight wouldn't prevent LSU from eventually gaining a 4 seed. Tenn. is still lurking out there as a huge opportunity and LSU would still have 3 tough, but winnable, road games left.

You have to slay a giant at some point. Playing a #1 in the Sweet 16 means you at least have 4-5 days to prepare for them vs. one day if you met them in the elite 8. Wade is not infallible, but he's shown that if you give him ample time to prepare for one team, he can generally put together a good game plan. The best example of this was the Maui Invitational last year. LSU had Michigan scouted great and pulled off the upset. They were then crushed in the next two games and looked like a completely different team.

While projections don't mean anything right now, LSU being in Duke's bracket means LSU is currently looked at as the "weakest" 4 seed.

If we played Murray State first round that would be an awesome first round matchup. We would get to see Ja Morant against LSU.

Very good point!

I've been debating with myself the past couple of days over if it wouldn't maybe be better to be a 6 seed rather than a 4-5 seed (that's assuming we can't manage to play to a 3 seed, which would be great). But your argument here definitely has made me think of it differently.

We beat Duke in the sweet 16 in '06 and made the final 4

Yeah looking back at the 2006 NCAA Tournament in that final 4 season it does look pretty similar. Go to Jacksonville in opening round with a 4 seed then get matched up against #1 Duke in Sweet 16. A Final Four would be an amazing job by this team 2 years removed from a 10–21 overall record.
