Well when Clark did it nobody said anything. She has a point

Nobody said anything, because nobody saw it. People weren't tuning in to watch Iowa vs Louisville, and her gesture was not directed at a specific player, so it wasn't really unusual. Angel does all sorts of gestures that aren't directed at anyone specifically, and no one says anything.

Labeling it as clout chasing is on point and absolutely fair. My comment is not some overreaction commentary whatsoever. I at least give you credit for having a conversation about it vs resorting to the low iq route and throwing out non stop race cards at any opposition.
labeling the reaction to it as soft is also on point and absolutely fair

She'd have a point if the circumstances were identical. They weren't. The only similarity was the gesture, which Clark didn't even make in this game

Reese searched out Clark and taunted her specifically. It was a trashy thing to do IMO

Should have prefaced that with "I'm not racist but"

She has legitimately heard shite all year.

And you could go look at the SEC rant and find threads about tattoos and fake eyelashes.

So it’s not like a made up slight she’s feeling

Exactly. Anyone still arguing "Clark didn't do the same thing" is missing the forest for the trees here.

As I posted in another thread, Angel received zero votes for national player of the year, and no one with ESPN/MSM said a word about it. She breaks the NCAA single season record for double-doubles (in a national championship game no less), and the media focus is solely on her taunting. Hell, there were posts on this board earlier in the year saying that her attitude was going to cost us down the road.

She has a legitimate gripe about her treatment, and she's not using it as a crutch following a loss either. She won tournament MVP and a national championship and just called out the bullshite.

Plenty people saw it. It was on Sportscenter and they loved it. Cena tweeted at her and praised her and Iowa for making the Final 4.

I have heard nothing about that. Even so, plenty of people have been praising Reese. The idea that she's only receiving criticism is not accurate at all, but you'd think it was by listening to the white knights around here.

Again, Reese did it right in a players' face, at the end of a game. When the game is over, you have to let that pettiness go. Reese has built up a reputation of getting in people's faces, so she's put a target on her back, and then to do that at the end of the national championship game.. What did she think would happen?

Clark does her share of trash talking and gesturing. I don't like it. most people don't. But I guess when you're really good and can back it up, you can get cocky. to be that good you have to be very confident. and there a fine line between confident and cocky. Sometime she closes it. All the above can also be said of Reese. Maybe Clark is aware of her own antics and that's why she pretty much just shrugged off Reese.Three tings bother me about Reese's actions.

1. As I said, I'm not a fan of trash talking.

2. There is a difference in what Reese did and what I saw Clark do. I may have missed it, but I didn't see Clark following an opposing player around. It seemed personal to Reese.Giving the gesture while walking past an opponent to get to your bench is one thing. Closely following a player is another.

3. Reese's explanations were nonsensical. Since when does LSU women's basketball have to take up for South Carolina? If I was a Lady Cock I'd be like, "WTF? We don't need you coming to our rescue. That's embarrassing. "Disrespectful."" Then Reeses alleged Clark disrespected Morris. I wouldn't be surprised. But when? Where? How? Finally, she resorted to the old fall back - the race card. Alleged "all year people been calling' her Ghetto", etc. And she's speaking out on behalf of girl who look like her. I followed this team fairly closely, don't recall ever seeing or hearing anything of the sort. Again, not saying it never happened. But all year? Please cite the infractions. If it happened I'm 100% behind her. if it didn't I'm 100% disappointed in her.

An article covering a Tweet covering a post-game press conference. That's what "News" is these days.

you're lumping a generic label on the "reactions". different people have different things to say about it. Some people may have fair views, some may not. Your intolerance to all reactions that aren't purple and gold pumping shows maybe nothing but your own soft armour. Have a good day.

There is an implication in his reasoning. Trying to play of that "Clark did it to the other team, not an individual" BS when she in fact did it to Hailey Van Lith of Louisville.

Like most here, I find claims of racism mostly overblown. But it is hard to look at this situation and how it has blown up and not think there is an element of that here, even if it is unintentional.

The irony here is that Clark is upset by it at all.

Those that don’t look her or other African American would never understand the hypocrisy of the reaction she received compared to the reaction of a midwestern good girl, her point is so true and those who don’t get that will never understand, u Geaux Angel!
