Like freedom of speech?

It is always hilarious when someone wants to throw this comment out there in the middle of this particular debate.

The thought that the students have enough control to organize some sort of silent protest when it has no ability to organize the refrain of the use of "Suck a Dick" in a chant is humorous.

Never going to happen. What do you think that would do to enrollment numbers?

Nope, and I honestly think the video thing is just a smokescreen to try and make the students stop.

It is a real simple solution. Don't play the songs. It's tradition, I know, but if students can't refrain don't play the song.

Times have changed. Greeks are the worst on campus. Note the sign one of the fraternities put up during the Kent State week.

All I know is that it wasn't started by Greeks back in '07 when I was in the Greek section. Can't speak for who the main culprits are now. Sucks that people get so twisted up over a couple of words they deem offensive, but that's the way the world works now and students need to understand that.

Yeah, DKE's practice of making offensive gameday signs is totally a new practice.

My point. just like it is a new practice of students getting songs banned.

I guess I am. Realtively speaking, having songs banned is a new thing compared to DKE's practice of being trolls/jackasses. The earliest instance of a song being banned that I recall is Tiger Rag in the mid 2000's.

Its not even an offensive thing, its the fact that these people cant understand what is socially acceptable. Screaming STTDB on national TV amongst a stadium full of people just isn't the way people need to behave. Plain and simple. And frankly, if they continue to behave that way, I dont feel bad for the ramifications of what they do.

At first I thought that you meant during THE Kent State week...but I forgot the age group of most of the posters on here. fwiw...students were much more unruly during the Vietnam War.

I'm telling people to speak as they please and let others speak as they please. You think that this is not a good idea.

Don't call for policing language and then tell ME I'm being bossy and not expect to be labeled accurately a hypocrite.

You realize the student section has always been like this. 10 years ago that student section was getting Tiger Rag banned...

...And Assholes had been being chanted since the 70's.

Not saying its right/wrong, but this isnt a problem that just started happening

As I've said before, when the school stopped playing songs because of students potty mouths, it escalated the issue.

FWIW, My very first game in Tiger Stadium was Kentucky back when Tim Couch was there. The old lady sitting next to me yelled "Kick their arse" during First Down.

Yeah, that's a good way of putting it. Hard to understand that someone could be genuinely offended by hearing it, but I agree it's pretty fricking childish and makes us look bad. Students need to understand that. Maybe they do and just don't care.

More name calling from hypocritical language police.

We aren't stupid, and we don't not want to believe it. We just don't care because we aren't bored enough with our lives to resort to instructing others to speak as we'll have them speak.

People will say vulgar things at football games no matter what anyone does, and they will never prevent you from enjoying the game. Now, will you move on, or do you still need drama?
