The Bob Bullock Museum Parking Lot typically has the best action for tailgating, but most get there early. It's more of a scene than a spot to get setup easily. Dean Keeton would be easier to find spots on. Yes our campus sucks for tailgating, but our city is badass. Welcome to Austin!
That lot is now a huge hole in the ground. LINK

For those of us not fortunate enough to have tickets to the game, what's the best move for watching? Should I consider the bars closer to the action downtown like Shoal Creek Saloon, Lavaca Street, and Shiner Saloon or am I going to want to be closer to campus?
How big of a pain will it be to catch an Uber off campus say an hour and a half before kickoff?

Hit Rustic Tap, that’s the best LSU bar and it’s where the LSU alumni association is holding their events and watch party.
Lavaca street bar or shiner saloon are also decent options, they’re right in the middle of downtown and you can walk to the bars on West Sixth or Rainey pretty easily from there. Shoal Creek Saloon is further out.
ETA - I’ve never tried to catch an Uber leaving campus before the game but I can’t imagine it should be too hard. There will be a lot of drop offs and not a lot of pick ups, so you should be able to pick one up easily on MLK or Dean Keeton.

RogerTempleton - Any suggestions on parking aside from the paid garages?

Plenty of parking meters within walking distance of the stadium. Since they have a 5 hour limit you might have to pay a $25 ticket - still beats garages

Ture. Was thinking long term since we'll ne tailgating it but if those parking meters are first come first serve, might hit those up instead
