I tried to watch this when it came on the other day. I think they did one to two plays at a time between 5 minute commercial breaks. It was pretty miserable. Wish they didn’t do that.

It's not a slight towards the football team or their accomplishment that night.

It is something that has been done for ages and actually helps people NOT FORGET the game and what happened. When something happens for the first and sometimes the only time in history it makes it much more special.

The LSU-UF announcers who have watched a lot of football said they had never seen a thrown shoe and a penalty because of it in a football game. Do a search for "thrown shoe in football game". Every result is about LSU, Florida, Wilson, Kole Taylor and how UF missed the playoffs because the boneheaded move by Wilson.

If someone asks an LSU fan about the 1988 Auburn game it may take a moment to sort through all of the Auburn games to determine what would make that year's game special. If someone asks an LSU fan about the Earthquake game they immediately know what was special - Tommy Hodson to Eddie Fuller TD pass at the end of the game for the win.

GREAT HIGHLIGHT VIDEO of the game that MOCKS the talking heads. The REF tells everyone HOW FAR WILSON THREW THE SHOE while announcing the penalty.

It already has a name that people associate with it. A "fog" anything could apply to hundreds of football games at every level of play. That's what makes the shoe throw very special.

If the game was known for anything besides the shoe it would have been the football's ricochet off the UF WR and subsequent ricochet off the LSU DB into the hands of another LSU DB who is on his knees right by the sideline.
