Overall, the game went just as expected. The game probably played out exactly how both teams planned except a few things.

First off, without Stringer LSU would have been in a ton of trouble with Turners early foul trouble.

LSU needed to get some more rebounds. The biggest advantage I thought we could have would be on the boards. We didn't allow a ton of 2nd chance points, but we didn't get many either.

Hamilton played awesome, but we needed a guard to stretch out the defense. We didn't get to the free throw line and we weren't able to drive at all to the hoop.

We played solid defense, except a few 3 point shots we should have had a hand in the shooters face. Having some of our small guards hurt us on perimeter defense against their pass and pop shooters.

I think we can take a lot out of this game and I still think LSU did well out of conference. I believe LSU needs to go 10-6 in conference to have a chance at the big dance. Gonna be tough, but we could pull off some big wins and have a decent shot still.

Lot of positives to take from this game. Stringer played well early, but forced some bad shots toward the end of the game. Great look by Turner at the end, just didn't knock it down. His foul trouble really limited us offensively. Hamilton was a beast. UVA played outstanding team defense, and the ball bounced their way. Hickey hit some big shots down the stretch for us.

I'll even say O'bryant showed a little progress in this game. It was masked by his lack of points though.

South of South...I am glad that you are encouraged by tonight's play. You pretty much nailed the scoring by both teams in your previous analysis.

Looking forward to the next 8 weeks. Thank you for the time you invest in your pregame analyses.

Come January 10th you will see a big jump in the crowd. Every year most fans wait till football is over for basketball to start. Also as soon as school starts the student section will be filled. I was impressed with the student section tonight.

Hamilton gave us our only chance at winning but he is too soft. He put the ball on the floor too many times only to be stripped or stalled a layup. Also had the ball stripped after a crucial rebound with seconds left to play. Still had a good game however.

OBryant needs to step up. He may be more raw than Regis Koundjia.

Game we should have won, but this game doesn't rest on Trent's shoulders. I thought he got our guys in good positions to make shots. We didn't hit them.

UVA made more timely shots and plays. Crowd was solid but because of the dull pace never got rocking till our short lead in the 2nd half.

We aren't going to rebound well if Hickey and Stringer play at the same time alot. We lose too much size.

I think 10-6 is really gonna be a tough task given our first 7 games SOS. I think there is a possibility we start 2-5 and a 9-1 finish is probably not realistic for this team.

That's why I thought tonight's game was so crucial. It could've given us an outside shot going 9-7 in conference.

A couple of issues I had:

1) Shot selection - A recurring issue for me with Trent is that he does not hold the kids accountable enough for poor shot selection. I've heard Trent's reasoning and I'm just not on board with it. All four of our bigs too often settle for mid-range fall-aways, Stringer is a bit more selective this year but he still jacked two 28-footers, Hickey took a terrible 3 and Isaac took several bad shots.

2) We got worked out of timeouts. UVA hit an alley oop and two wide open 3's out of timeouts. We got nowhere near the quality looks out of ours on offense.

3) Hamilton was our only consistent guy offensively, hard to critique him, but he needs to be stronger with that ball. He let 2 or 3 sure scores bounce off his hands and no excuse for letting them strip him at the end there.

4) I would have liked to have seen a little more Courtney over Isaac tonight. I think we discussed that pre-game and I think the outcome may have been better had Trent agreed.

That's a game we could've won. Time to move on. Come back strong against Ole Miss and then IMHO gotta find a way to win 3 of the next 6 after. Won't be easy looking at the slate.

This was by far my biggest beef. Hamilton has to do a better job retaining possession after a rebound. He got it stripped late but even with around a minute left he got it stripped after a crucial defensive rebound that could have led to a tying possession i believe.

Great close 'down to the wire' game against a great team. I have high hopes this year.
