Bad News/Good News
LSU will hit less than 25 home runs next year.
As a team, they will hit less than .275 in SEC play.
They will lose more than half of their SEC games.
They will lose more than 20 games overall.
But, none of that matters because all 13 SEC teams will make the tournament regardless of their record. LSU may even host another regional. So, all they have to do is have a couple of players step up in the tournament and they could make another WCWS and once again, have no chance of winning it.

Hitting and hitting adjustments are definitely something the staff will have to evaluate this offseason and make some changes, whether it's staff or approach/methodology.
Anyone who follows softball (not just the postseason) knew that there would be a major offensive hit after last year's loss of 3 of your top hitters (Bell, Simmons, Kloss). This board wasn't exactly clamoring for Dobson's head after last year.
You had to replace 3 big bat seniors with 2 freshman and a green sophomore. Doyle and Springfield have huge upside and can become a Kloss or Bell type of bat, but they were playing HS ball last year.

I mean, how may teams make the CWS? To only be 1 of the best 8 teams in the country is not acceptable. What a farce of a program we have at LSU.
Sarcasm - it's a hell of a drug

Like SEC softball is on TV ever other than the post season? Not all of us live in driving distance of Baton Rouge either. Maybe they played great against lesser competition, but from what I have seen COMPARED to the last few years, this years team has tailed off and the talent coming back next year leaves a lot to be desired.

Here's what I understand perfectly...
I'm tired of my TAF dollars going to a program that always gets to the dance and is constantly out coached and physically overwhelmed by opponents
Then feel free to take your TAF dollars and shove them squarely up your arse. We wont miss your money. I absolutely despise people with this attitude and I would be willing to bet you know next to nothing about the softball team. You are the type of "fan" we can do without.

Send Dobson packing, and i really think he should be a head coach elsewhere
Dobson was head coach at Southern Miss. That did not go well, which is how he ended up at LSU.

I will say this, there is zero reason why Doyle was where she was at the end of the season. She was put on the junior national team for a reason.
She was essentially a top ten recruit before the knee injury. I know we played better competition but she and many other hitters kept going completely backwards on this back half the season. No one showed any improvement which is the most concerning things
I know we have a lot of new faces but with the talent we have there needs to be way better play offensively.
Anyone who follows the program closest realizes the hitting needs to be reevaluated. This isn't the case of a player in a slump. It's much bigger than that

I think I saw damn near every game. You ever heard of SEC+ which is the online SEC network?

If you didn't care enough to know their games were on SEC+ why would you care enough to post in this thread now?

The schedule is easily accessible on the LSU website. Just in case you didn't notice (which you obviously didn't) all 13 SEC softball teams made the NCAA tournament.

They made the fricking college world series.

Look up Tigerbait357's post on the recruiting board before posting idiotic shite.

We need a systematic approach to batting.
agreed. It has been a issue after. these two studs we have pitching have been there 3 straight times. when you get these chances you have to take advantage. returns imminent or not are never guaranteed. see my analogy with TAMU this year and the last time they made it in 2008. then my analogy with UF and how they took advantage of it the 3rd time with Rogers pitching. look, this program is doing great but it will be a huge disappointment if LSU could not win a natty with Alie and carley here for 4 years and at least 3 WCWS appearances. very hard to have a duo like that together that long. We only had mack and fico one time in OKC.

It'll be a rebuilding year IMO.

If you notice, the most potent offenses in the country have a systemic offense. There is a very similar swing, stance, approach to batting 1-9.
The reason for this is a lot of players leave hs with a lot of flaws in their mechanics/approach and at this level it's taken advantage of.
I know people want to point the finger at talent but talent is not the issue at all. There are teams with far less talent out there putting up more power numbers and are a little more efficient.
Doyle, Springfield, Serrett, Sanchez, Griggs were all recruited by major programs all across the country, and for a reason. We have talent but their hitting hasn't come close to being maximized.
A lot can be accomplished in just one off season. So there is plenty of time to regroup, do what needs to be done to have the offense ready next year

It will be Carley and Allie's senior seasons. Did you consider this year a rebuilding year? They arguably lost more in Bell, Kloss, and Simmons over Jaquish, Landry, and Connie.

Agreed.
I would also like to see better defense especially on the infield.
Beth is doing well.
Consistency is hard to get but she has that now for the most part.
Just continue to work on the weaker areas and win a WCWS will be in the near future.

I'm dumbfounded someone like Amanda Doyle would hit below .240 on the season
I'm surprised that our entire lineup, outside of SJ, looked completely outclassed against top-tier pitching.

Serrett went completely backwards from her freshman year
