#LSU is expected to hire McNeese State tight ends coach Derek Shay, per sources. He'll serve in a graduate assistant role, replacing John Decoster, who's now full-time with Old Dominion. Among others, Shay will be working with five-star TE Arik Gilbert.

And Coach Eaux said he was going to their games to watch his son play.

The 29-year-old Shay spent one coaching tight ends in Lake Charles under former McNeese coach Sterlin Gilbert, who left in January to become the offensive coordinator at Syracuse.

McNeese ranked 59th in the FCS division in total offense (385 yards per game), 65th in scoring offense (26.1 points per game) and tight ends Louis Conerly and Jacob Logan combined for four catches, 36 yards and a touchdown reception.

I really don't mind a GA hire, but wow.

I’ve never in my life seen the rant so enamored with GA positions.

Before Shay rejoined Gilbert at McNeese in 2019, he spent four seasons at the high school level. He spent two seasons as the offensive line coach at IMG Academy in Bradenton, Florida

That’s interesting

JC Latham. Big time kid that has major LT type upside. Also a good DL if needed. Battling OSU. He's been in the IMG system long enough for overlap.

McNeese’s offense wasn’t horrendous as a whole. It’s not like they were slinging the rock to everyone but the TEs.
