LSU ranking wise is still slotted in the cotton bowl.

Even with a loss to Georgia, there is still a good chance to go to the cotton bowl due to the team selection rules. The only way we would miss it is if we get moved behind Florida state I'm the rankings with a loss and Utah beats USC. Utah loses to USC they stay behind us in the rankings.

It doesn't matter what anyone is projecting. The bowls are selected based on final rankings post Conference championship games by the CFP committee.

They are selected based on CFP ranking as follows:

Sugar: Best SEC vs Best Big-12

Orange: Second best SEC vs Best ACC

Rose: Best Pac-12 vs Best Big-10

Cotton: the 2 Highest ranked teams not in a different NY6 bowl.

Assuming the CFP rankings are similar to the AP poll.

#1 UGA
#2 UM
#3 TCU
#4 USC

#5 OSU Rose Bowl
#6 UA Sugar Bowl
#7 Tenn Orange Bowl
#8 PSU Cotton Bowl
#9 UW Rose Bowl
#10 Clem Orange Bowl
#11 LSU Cotton Bowl
#12 KST Sugar
#13 UTH conference championship
#14-23 don't play in a championship game.

The CFP committee is good about not really dropping teams that lose to much better teams rankings wise. Especially so for not punishing teams that play a conference championship game. So it's still a good possibility for LSU to stay in the cotton bowl with a close LOSS to UGA.

Absolutely no one is projecting LSU to the cotton bowl.

It’s the citrus my friend. A glorified scrimmage against Purdue.

Tulane/UCF winner in Cotton in that scenario, not LSU

They will either take Tulane or LSU

This. I haven't seen a single projection that has us in the Cotton Bowl.

We're headed to the Crapital One or Outback Bowl.

We need to pray we don't get the Cotton bowl. 11am kickoff in cold weather isn't our thing.......

We won't go to either. LSU plays in the Sugar with a win on Saturday. A loss has us probably going to the Citrus bowl.

With an LSU Loss...

UGA -> CFP
BAMA -> Sugar
Tenn -> Capital One Orange Bowl
LSU -> Citrus
South Carloina -> ReliaQuest (Outback)

LSU is going to the Citrus or Sugar. Tulane/UCF, Penn St and Tennessee would all get the nod over LSU.

I think Citrus takes S Carolina and we end up in Outback

Capital One used to sponsor the Citrus Bowl, but it looks like they sponsor the Orange Bowl now.

My bad, we're going to the Cheez-It Bowl. LOL

I'd hazard a guess that they won't be too excited to draw us. We'd be ending the season in a tailspin and the last time we went there we only sold about 6K tickets. Nobody will be excited about playing either Iowa or Purdue.

Group of 5 don't get a nod over a higher ranked team. It's the 2 Highest ranked teams. That's all. Tulane/ucf would have to be ranked higher in the final poll than LSU. If LSU loses a close game to Georgia, there's a very good chance we don't drop below Florida state, Oregon, Oregon state, or UCLA. The next 2 teams behind us are also very likely to lose their championship games. It's hard to punish a team for playing and losing their championship game by placing them behind a team that sat at home during championship weekend with the same regular season record but a worse strength of record than them.

Highest ranked group of 5 conference champion is guaranteed a New Year's Six bowl if they are not selected for the playoff.

Learn how the NY6 and CFP work before you post

Stranger things have happened. Can’t see this playing out, but would much prefer the Cotton to either of the Florida bowls.

Never saw the group of 5 exception. Gonna likely be a #15-20 G5 team obliterated by Penn St, gonna be a sad game.
