Guilbeau

Don't ignore the fact that Latz was injury and the jerk Marshal. We could have had 2 freshman competing for that spot who actually could start and do well, instead of guys probably going to be bullpen all the time we force a guy to start who isn't use to it.

You people are such jackasses about Guilbeau. I don't agree with everything he writes either, but that was a pretty good and fairly accurate summary of what the pitching situation was.

I think he is pretty accurate, we failed to develop a consistent third and fourth arm and it cost us.

I hate him as a writer as much as the next....but is anyone going to say he wasn't 100% correct??!
P.S. he did talk about Latz and Marshall as being factors.
It absolutely kills me to say that a-hole is right.....but unfortunately, he and this article is spot on!

It's easy for everyone to jump on that bandwagon now and "analyze" the inability to develop a third starter. But yet no one was saying this during the regular season.

I don't think this is accurate.

The problem with the idea is the assumption that it was doable with who there was to work with.

Certainly they were, i am pretty sure the handling and development of the staff was probably the most discussed topic over the bulk of the season.

I've heard so many times during the season from the Baton Rouge sports "media" that all you need is 2 quality starters for post season success and patchwork the rest. Well that didn't work out.

Did CPM give up on Godfrey a little too soon? Not a flame, just asking.

I agree with all of this. Apologies for the accidental down vote.

GTFO. OP should have warned it's a Guilbeau article. Read whatever you want. It may be the greatest article ever published, but I refuse to support his career. And that means being part of his viewership. My beef isn't about any individual piece of writing, it's the totality of his entire career.

I don't think so, but I do think his management of the middle guys did not enhance their development. When you go Johnny Wholestaff in the third game, you have an issue. What led to the lack of development isn't necessarily the concern.

Latz may have helped, but he didn't get hurt in May, it wasn't a big surprise
