The LSU football team finished its season with its highest final-season ranking since it played in the 2012 BCS National Championship Game as the Tigers sit at No. 6 in the Associated Press’ final Top 25 poll of the 2018 season.
The Tigers jumped five spots from the previous poll after a convincing 40-32 victory against UCF, which took over LSU’s previous spot of No. 11 in the poll.
The season-ending ranking is the highest under LSU head coach Ed Orgeron, who just finished his second full season as head coach. The Tigers finished No. 16 last season, and No. 13 in 2016, a season in which he took over as interim coach after the firing of former head coach Les Miles.
Clemson finished as a unanimous national champion in the AP poll after defeating previously No. 1 Alabama 44-16 in the CFP National Championship game Monday.
Alabama finished No. 2 with Ohio State, Oklahoma and Notre Dame following to found out the Top 5.
LSU was the second Southeastern Conference representative in the poll, as it edged out both Florida and Georgia, which tied for No. 7
