I know. Losing Devin White and Greedy Williams to the NFL was tough on them.

Of course he’s wrong. LSU’s defense has done enough to win EVERY game. They have been damn good all season UNTIL we get a big lead.

Cregg’s going to get that $$.

Why do we always want to name a hero? It’s not Cregg that did this; it’s the recruiting from three or four years ago. When everyone was whining about the oline during the offseason I was posting that it was going to be a good unit - not because of coaching, but because we had top notch recruits who were coming into their third and fourth years.

Saahdiq Charles was a sought after recruit.
Austin Deculus was a borderline five star.
Cush, Ingram and Lewis had already established themselves as good players.
Hines is a stud who can’t get on the field because of all the talent we have.

Our oline is littered with future NFL players, and THAT’s why we have a good oline.

This is a byproduct of experience; talent; coaching (brady scheme); and an uber talented qb.

Well deserved recognition.
The most impressive thing to me is the "success" of the offensive line due to the missed games by players(suspensions/injuries).

Penrod is absolutely correct about the talent level. We have Ingram and Hines that have started a lot of games as backups.

Not statistically. Alabama is better than us in every category except rushing defense and red zone defense.

I am so happy for our O line. They have done a phenomenal job, and we will need them to continue this performance next year.

Not all those are true, or fully accurate.

Charles was a highly sought after OG...not OT... who was outplayed as a trFR by Ingram at OG and moved to OT out of sheer necessity. However, it was obvious that he had the agility and athleticism to play OT, but there was no inclination to make that move until we ran out of OTs.

Yes, Deculus was a borderline 5*, took a lot of shite here. But was a great pickup and had the tools all along just needed time and development.

People freaked out when Cush was named the starter last year. Only a very few, yes- myself included, said he should be the starter and that he was going to be a good one. Most, the very vast majority, could not reconcile how a 3*, last man in, with very little playing time could be starting for LSU and it not be a signal that doom was upon us. Most assumed Ingram would move over, a trFR would have to start because there's no way Cush could be that good, or we needed a grad transfer. All the while he was solid in practice, looked great in drills, and if you paid attention to Tiger Ree's posts (or visited the ops building) you could see the he was one of the best in the weight room all offseason. He was anything but an established player when he became the full time every game started for 2 years starter. But, most of the credit goes to Cush. Cush made Cush. Not Grimes for recruiting him (last man in) or Cregg for making him. Both Grimes and Cregg deserves some credit for coaching him up. But he wasn't recruited knowing he would be the starting center, every game, for 2 years. Possibly 3.

Yep, Ingram and Lewis definitely established.

Hines was brought in as DT, and everybody but Hines (us here on this board included) knew he was going to be a OG. Now he's going to be our C when he's not an OG. He's a damn beast, just needs a little more time. Yes- Hines is damn sure a recruiting win.

My point is only about half of your references were 'recruiting wins'. The other half are 'coaching/player wins'. Do I think this OL would be where it is right now with Grimes' recruiting AND coaching? Hell no I don't. I think Cregg has taken it a step beyond what we would've gotten with Grimes. Still need more results from Cregg to know for sure, but we have a definitive lack of results from Grimes to know about that side of the equation.

[/quoe} Bama lost 3 Dlinemen a linebacker, a safety, and a corner, 5 drafted. LSU’s losses were a dlinemean. a linebacker , a safety and a corner, 2 drafted.

To be the biggest disappointment requires that you had high expectations from the beginning. We expected to have one of the best units in the country, and although the talent is there, they have not played that way.... Disappointment.

Why did you underestimate Burrow so much?

Well mobile QBs who are talented tend to take more sacks than other QBs

When you have a Heisman QB they mask a lot of deficiencies the offensive line has because they are putting up ridiculous numbers. Plenty of D lines have lived in the backfield against LSU.
